I'm confused - What's the rating?

I thought it had already got an M rating. In this weeks update at the end he says this:

So that's it for this week. One other snippet of news is that we got our rating from the ESRB. We'll tell you what it really is later, but this is what it could have been…

This is misleading, does it mean that it will not get the mature rating. Of course, why would he make even just a little sentence about something that everyone expects. I thought I knew it would get M, but this makes me second guess myself. I just hope they don't tone it down for T, that would suck.

What do you think? Would Bungie sell more with an M or a T rating? If GTA is any sign, I'm thinking M.

Halo 2 can't be rated yet. It isn't finished. But it will have an M rating no doubt.

M, anything with animated violence and gore is rated for 17+ yo's (but only a handful of places actually encforce it, I happen to work at one that does).

Well, the dude said that it got its rating so..... I'm totally with you guys, M is the way to go. Yesterday I would have sworn on my life that Halo 2 is M, but his little update made me second guess is all...

but, do you guys know if there will be physical damage, like once you knock a guy's shields off and shoot his armor, will there be visible damage done to his armor?
I love the idea of fully destructable vehicles, Halo 2 is going to be very cool.
When Halo 2 comes out I am breaking down and getting DSL+XBL, I currently have a 9.6 kbps AOL connection. /me <-noob.

i hesitate to buy any game thats not rated m but halo would never be the same if you couldent see the blood squirt out of a grunt while tearing into em with a AR

I've seen bloodier games than Halo that have received a T rating. I personally think that Halo deserved a T because it really wasn't gory it was just purple blood leaking out of aliens. That's just me, but I would like a little more "graphicness" in Halo 2, just to add a new level of realism.

Medal of Honor games recieve a T for their historical accuracy, but I agree, I think if it's gonna get M, they should go all out (within reason, no soldier of fortune stuff here).

You're forgetting about the flood. I remember the first time i played through Halo, i was thinking "how is this rated M?" When i blasted half of a flood's face off with the shotgun, then took off the other limbs, i could understand why :) .

For those of you who don't know how to make the game lag:
Kill a hunter. Melee it from several different angles until there is blood splattered all around the body. Back away from the body, look at your feet, then run straight through the mess. Yeah.... :watchout:
