View Full Version : First to beat Halo 2 on Legendary

I am pretty new to this site, but I am having alot of fun-great people in the forums, for the most part.
I was thinking...it would be cool to try to get halo 2 the morning it comes out, and see if you could play it non-stop through legendary, just for the hell of it.
I don't have XBoxLive, quite unfortunately, but I do have about 500 dollars in the bank.
Once Halo 2 comes out, I will get a DSL connection (cant get cable ) and XBoxLive.
I am starting my part time job soon, so I might not have to cut into my savings for the Halo 2 multiplayer goodness.

I've got DSL, but I don't think its up to stuff for XBL.
but I wonder if its gonna have XBL co-op?????
I have a feeling that anyone who tries to play it on legendary right off the bat is gonna be in for a rude awakening, the grenade physics are different, the enemies move faster, they use strategy, and no doubt the difficulty is going to be more difficulty on legendary too. :) good luck!

I laugh at you people with DSL. Comcast all the way, 721.4 kbps as of 12:51 a.m. 6/21! :hump:. Sorry about that but I couldn't help but comment on your dillema. Anyways, i don't think that you're going to need any extra motivation to play through the night. The story itself should do that for you!

That and $50 bucks and you might be able to get someone to care. :p

To heck with you Duke, it's only $29.99 a month. ;)
You probably pay at least $50 a month for a worse connection.

I have the Comcast Pro Internet Cable. It's nice... 4 Mbps download...kicks ass!
I know that I'll be one of the first from here to beat Halo 2 on Legendary as I am going to take the first two days and beat it before even looking at the Multi-player. Hopefully co-op is on XBL...that would be tight :)
Oh yeah, TuffEagle...where did you hear that the grenades have different physics in Halo 2? And, if so, how are they supposedly different?

He doesn't know what he is talking about. The grenades just blow up when they are supposed to, instead of bouncing around first. That's all that is different, but that isn't a change in physics, just mechanics.

so u can get a fiber optic connection for 29.99 a month NO EXTRA CHARGES right so its only 29.99 because i hate when companies do that offer xtra lower prices then jack up the price with other ****

well, hopefully in the next 5 years, verizon and SBC will get their asses moving. Verizon announced several weeks ago and SBC announced today that they are going to start pushing fiber to the premesis and fiber to the node to allow for dsl (for lack of a better term) at speeds from 15 - 50 mbit/s and 1 - 3mbit up). You'll be seeing fiber to the premesis in new developments (because its cheap to install before the area is developed) and fthn in old developments (neighborhoods). Should bring 80 -90% of all customers in their regions to within 5000 feet or less of a central office. compared to within 12k feet now.
Hey, we may even catch up with japans 40mbit for about 35 - 40 bucks a month one day.
i have 6mbit/620 dsl connection right now for 45 a month. not the best, but its good enough for me, for now.

It's $200 for installation, because there is a fiber box and gateway , plus all the fiber lines. Then it's $29.99 a month. Period.

What company provides the service? This probably isn't available just anywhere...that's just my assumption....

Average connection speeds for the Zipp Network have been charted in excess of 1.5 Mbps. Compare that to the 28 to 42 Kbps speed offered through traditional dial-up connections! Zippier than ISDN. Zippier than some DSL. Zipp is the fastest connection in the county.
Thats only a little bit faster than DSL and certainly not faster than Comcast Cable. Plus, again, my Cable internet is provided free of charge because my parents work from home.

for your information I do know what I'm talking about they are making them MORE bouncy, not less. Maybe it was in an E3 article I read. I'll look for it Max.

Thanks, dude! I'm really curious about the grenade physics and mechanics in Halo 2...that is, if they truly are going to be different. If anything, I'm sure it will be improved any way we look at it. I just can't recall ever reading anything about the subject. It surprises me enough that I haven't read about it if it was published, but, of course, it's very possible...I've been really busy with this new job! :)

I can't remember where I read it. I went through the forums but couldn't find it. I remembe it was only about one or two sentences that talked about how you should expect to have to relearn how to throw grenades. It might have even been in an article about the testing over xbox live. I'll keep my eyes open though.

I know exactly what your talking about now dude, I remember that form an article, and I'm vigoursly trying to find it now. Perhaps it was in a magazine...ah hell, i forget, but I'm sure the physics and the mechanics have changed since Halo 1. In the first game, they woudn't explode till they stopped bouncing (try that with a rela 'nade :p )

One of the things I really love about the current grenade physics (in Halo 1) is that you can throw the grenade at a person not expecting anything...and you know that they are hearing a "bink....bink.....bink bink binkbink"...right before it explodes... and you gotta love knowing that they are horrified, especially when their health bar is only half way :D One grenade in that scenario = death!!!

Lots of physics are different. Halo 2 was made from scratch. I wouldn't doubt that the grenades are tooled differently.

I know...I think it's incredible how Halo 2 was built from the ground up...but, you can definately tell that the same makers of Halo 1 were heading up Halo 2...which is a very good thing because even by watching the video streams, the game definately screams Halo and it appears to have the same feel.
If anything, I wouldn't expect too many (or any at all) major mechanical or physical changes...just little touches that are mainly improvements (if it's possible, Bungie will figure it out) :)
