So IGN announced ESPN NFL 2k5 will be releasing on the 10th of august along side Madden. Personally I didn't believe until 2 days later I got an e-mail from Ebgames confirming this.

Thanks for pre-ordering from EBgames.com! As an added benefit to ordering from us, we'll keep you informed of ship date changes. We are writing to let you know that the publisher has set a new ship date for ESPN NFL 2K5 of 8/10/2004. As always, EBgames.com will not charge your credit card until we ship your order.

So not only has ESPN tried to put more into their game, make it a better price, but they also move the release date up to match that of Madden's.

Now I just saw on ebgames.com that Madden has moved to August 9th (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/242152.asp).

Wouldn't it be nice if they kept battling like this and we could get the game say before the end of July even :) LOL (if they can dream, I can dream too)

Of course Madden will do well, even better. Point is, is that Madden freaks will give ESPN a try this season, rather than just pass it off as a crappy football game that cannot compete against their elite Madden franchise. (morons) And hopefully it will make them realise Madden isn't as good. I expect ESPN to sell much better, but still won't beat Madden. But the year after next.... I say ESPN will take the crown.

good one for you chadizzle. At least the madden cultz can give ESPN a try, you cant lose for 20 bones. Then a lot of people will realize what a gem sega sports has.

It's going to be interesting to see which game does better on xbox......since ESPN is only $20 now, but Madden now has Xbox Live.

It was announced that their entire 2005 sports line up will be on XBL.

I think even if ESPN moves its date up again, EA will keep moving up Madden. The reason Madden releases when it does is because it wouldnt be good business if they released closely to NCAA.

Madden will always do well b/c it is the name brand. I'll buy madden b/c I always do, but i'll porbably get ESPN too since it's so cheap.

See this is exactly why they dropped their price. Now all the madden players are going to give this game a try because of the price tag on it. (even though you could rent it for alot cheaper to just try it)

And who knowns, many Madden guys could cross the line to ESPN.

I thought this would happen. I even said so in the other thread.

ESPN is the belle of the ball.

Eh, comparing Madden 2004 with ESPN 2004, Madden beats ESPN considerably in my opinion. I guess we'll have to see which one is better this time around, but I'm still going for Madden.

I've played every single NFL2K and ESPN game. I'll be getting both also. For some reason though I really didn't like ESPN NFL 2K4.

Im only going to get ESPN because football games dont interest me as much as REAL football does, and they never will. I never liked madden either.

The only thing that sucks is that EA is still buddy buddy with sony, releasing an anniversary edition ONLY for PS2 which includes 3 new ways to play Madden (16 bit, PSX graphics etc.) and Making of vids etc. :(

I don't see anyone playing those games more then once. Also waste of money. It cost more then the regular game.

Yeah, I'd rather pay 5 or 10 bucks more and get an aniversary edition though. It sounds like it's pretty cool. I don't understand why they're only doing it for PS2. It's prejudice.

i think i like madden better so i will probably get it. the only reason i got espn last year was because madden wasnt live, so this year i think i'll get madden. but i could end up getting both i dunno yet...

Does anybody know why ESPn costs 19.99? They won't make as much money if it was 50 bucks, even if they sell more. Right?

Actually, ESPN will be making a profit. I read an article on it, don't know where it is and I won't bother looking for it till I get some sleep then come back on here again. I'll end up getting both, since I know alot of my friends will be getting Madden and XBox Live, and ESPN who I believe just surprassed Madden.
