Bingo - and with it being Visual Concepts, i highly HIGHLY doubt that it will be looking better than the Ps2, but I have yet to see both, so I'll keep my mouth shut til then.

you have to remember, when games are reviewed for different systems like that..the scores arent reflecting how they different versions compare with each other....they reflect how they compare to other games on the same system.


this isnt a direct comparison of espn 2k5 on PS2 vs espn 2k5 on xbox. it is espn 2k5 for PS2 vs other PS2 games...and espn 2k5 for xbox vs other xbox games.

so if the two versions (ps2 and xbox) are very similar graphically..it makes sense that the ps2 version has a higher score...because ps2 generally doesnt have many good looking games. where as the xbox version would probably have a lower score due to the xbox having some really great looking games out there to compete with

Thats what I tried to say, I didnt say that the ps2 version looked better, it just got a higher score because visuals for it have lower standards compared to xbox

No, there are just different standards.
For example, a gameboy advance version may get a "10" for graphics and the Xbox a "9" even though obviously the Xbox will look better.
They HAVE to do this. If the only system I have is a Dreamcast and they compare the visuals to Xbox. The DC game will always get a low score and it would be difficult to make a decision. Or considering the visuals of Halo PC when rating Xbox Halo.

(However they do usually make comments comparing the two system's(Xbox and PiS2) versions in the reviews which does confuse things a 'bit.) :argue1:

Its capablitiy. Xbox is capable of much better graphics than PS2, and GamePRO knows that, the final scores of the game are the same (5.0) so im not gonna complain.

There are probably lots of people out there that just read the scores and see PS2 got a better graphical score. But the person doesn't realize things that you guys have been explaining why they score they way they do.

There people are going to get the wrong idea about things. They either need to explian that in their article... or start scoring a better way. If Xbox 2k5 looks better it should have a higher score then PS2's

GamePro claims to rate video games in comparison to other games on that platform.

i'm pretty sure thats how gamespot rates their games as well. People *****ing about a higher score on one system than another are just little fanboys mad cause their system didn't get the "high score". Who gives a crap? really. I could give a crap what gamespot, ign, oxm, and other countless magazines and websites rate a game.

Games are rated against other like games on the same console (or if no other like games, then something that is the closest, graphics, etc...) Its the only way it can be fair to each system. By some of your standards, gameboy games would always rate a 1 or .5 compared to the console versions of the same game like somebody mentioned up there somewhere.

Gamepro has always gave xbox weaker scores than PS2. A couple of months ago they gave Rainbow a score of 3.5. come on now, this is one of the most popular games on live. I still like the magazine, but I refuse to listen to some of the reivews.

i dont know what you guys are complaining about.. how do you expect them to review games for one system by comparing them to games on other systems...it just wouldnt be fair. the PS2 and xbox are not comparable systems. and the example with the gameboy is perfectly accurate...you cant compare games across platforms in a normal review. if you are going to do a special head to head comparison of the different versions, that is one thing..but for standard reviews, you have to compare the game to other games on the same platform in order for them to be accurate. if not, ps2 scores would be so low every time..which does not accuratly express the quality of the game.

for instance: Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. it will be out for all 3 consoles, but yet, you cant accuratly review them based on the other versions. for one..the gamecube version doesnt have any multiplayer mode...and since nintendo doesnt embrace online gaming..this isnt a suprise. hardly any gamecube games have online play..so when compared to other gamecube games..this doesnt really drag down pandora tomorrows score. but if you were to score it against the ps2 and xbox versions, the gamecube should have a much lower rating since it doesnt include multiplayer.

Im sure most of you here are like me and have more than one of the current consoles, and therefore would like it if game reviewers compared the 3 versions to say which one is the best...however, alot of gamers only have one of the new consoles, and therefor dont care how it compares to the other versions..but they care how it compares to other games they can buy for their console.

If I only owned a gamecube and I was reading a review for Pandora TOmorrow, i would not be concerned about how it compares to the xbox and ps2 versions, becuase buying it for a different console is not an option. i would want my review to tell me how it compares to other games that are available for gamecube.

they have to go with what makes the most sense, and try to get the largest target audience possible. if their reviews based their scores on how it compares to other platforms..they would be worthless to single platform gamers.

besides..we all know that the xbox version will be better than the ps2 and gamecube versions anyway. they almost always have better load times, better graphics, better framerates, extra features...etc

i feel that for high profile games..they should to head to head comparisons...but not in place of a standard review

He has a point trir. It happens to me all the time in hockey. I work my but of every game but when I crappy player does something one game only, they get all the credit becuase they dont normally play that good.

Yes, but XBOX-addict doesn't proclaim to being objective...hence the name.

However, as I stated before they are rating the games based on the titles on that console and on the ability of the console/platform primarily. It's not an exact science though. For example, almost all of the N-gage titles are rated poorly. :confused:

I heard SEGA was making this game designed to *take advantage* of the Xbox Hardware? I have been a 2k fan well, since the Dreamcast and ALWAYS bought it over Madden. I am really looking forward to this years version but if the PS2 looks better than I'm buying Madden. I don't care if the game is 10c. We are loyal and now PS2 gets the jump? No way.

Truth is when the PS2 and Xbox both started off and games were new they were probably even as far as graphics go, and PS2 had the advantage of having more games available than Xbox.
Now Xbox is pulling away and not only does it have the same games as PS2 they look better, sound better, play online better, etc. I'm not trying to make this a PS2 vs Xbox thing, but PS2 sales have dropped and Xbox sales have risen when you read reviews from web sites like Gamestop (cmon it's gamestop, when have they ever gotten a review of a game right?LOL)

Don't be dumb. You'll much more appreciate the Xbox Version more. Some of those magazines are just Bias on certain topics. Not only will you have a better picture, better load times & better display of the game (I'm sure the Hard Drive will have something to do with it too) but you'll also have surround sound!
I'm so getting the Xbox version, no matter what the Biased Magazine editors think.
