It's a good football game, but I still want Visual Concepts to do a NCAA football game.
I give NCAA 2005 a 7.0

I wouldnt quite give it a 7.0 but it was a better game last year IMO. EA can throw in whatever features they want off the field but on the field it just doesnt make the cut.

Hey Al, how do you feel about the FSUvsUM game being the first of the season right out of the gate?? I'm a nole fan and kind of think it stinks. I like having it in the middle of the season so there is something to build up to and the rankings are higher. Makes the game worth more IMO.
Oh well, whoever wins it will probably go on to play for the BCS as usual. :)

I would like for them to have a tune up before the game but it will do. The OB will be rocking thats for sure.

I literally spent all day with NCAA 2005 and the more I play the less I like it. One of the big killers for me is catching passes or lack of it. You might get a 50% completion rate in practice without any defenders. Now go play a game against a team like Miami and forget completing a pass. Wide open recievers just let the ball bounce off thier head or hands and if a defender is anywhere near your reciever it gets batted away, forget even getting close. Oh and when it gets batted away the ball doesn't go to the ground, it gets popped around like a freakin pinball until a defender gets it. It looks like a vollyball match in the backfield with all the jumping and bumping the ball in the air. On the opposite side the running game is too easy. I can run FB up the middle all day long and have at least a 6yd per carry average. You can load the box with everyone you want and I can still get forward momentum to 3 yards.
The controls are feeling clunky and when I need to make a cut I cant just think about it and make the cut, I have to send a memo to the player and by the time he responds he is toast.

I think the passing game is the biggest fustration to me so far. I cant play as my noles because there is no passing game, they drop everything. :bang:

I agree with you about the passing game, for me its nearly impossible to complete 10 passes in an entire game. Sometimes I'll see what appears to be an open reciver and if I through a touch pass its in the air long enough for the entire defensive secoundary to go over and pick it off or bat it away. Then if I were to through a bullet pass 85% of the time my reciver would drop it. I also agree the running game is too easy. I love running the ball but I do occasionally like to mix it up with the pass but in 2005 that seems impossible.:(

And thats why i traded mine in for espn football, and used the rest to reserve Halo 2.

Alright Alright....So you can't pass the ball all over the field in the first few days you have the game. There is a learning curve. This years game is definetly tougher. And I wouldn't say running is to easy. Depends on who you're playing and what team they are. You have to take what the defense gives you. If they're constantly dropping 7-8 guys back in coverage run it. If he likes to blitz his backs a lot then dump some balls over the middle. If he's playing 4-4 then send your guys deep and burn him. It's a tougher game, but nothing to b*tch about.

I'm talkin offline Varsity Difficulty. I have played madden and NCAA for about 2 years. I have never had a problem passing in madden or in NCAA in the past but 2005 is the devil!!!! Oh and I usally play with the Cornhuskers so running the ball is like....well I mean come on its Nebraska..........GO BIG RED!

well there you go man. Nebraska is great at running and not that good at passing. That explains your situation. Really with them all you need to do is pass just enough to keep him overplaying the run.
