Before today i hated ctf. now i know why and its because i always played in games with very uneven teams(me the n00b). but today i had a serious change of heart. i was playing xbc with a friend on my xbox with me we joined a game it was a ctf game, it was 8 on 8 and even teams. it was so fun i cant even decribe it it had so much stratagy and skill involved. my team won 3-1. long story short i just am so happy that now i understand why ctf is loved by so many.
please no critisism because of me making this a thread.
ok well you guys post your first enjoyable ctf experience.
edit: i meant 4 on 4 i was excited so i typed the wrong numbers

I remember the last lan I went to, we played a game of CTF,
They thought I was superb so they put me on the team of 4, we were against a team of 7, It was hard, We only had 2 decent people, one of my friends that recently graduated and me. They were up 3 to nothing, and then we devised plans of our own. at the end, we decided to Rush them with all 5 people, I got the flag and gunned back with a ghost, and we one.
and they were yelling at us for being ****y. They were just jealous :P

Best CTF match ever for me was a memorable one to be sure. I don't know why this game isn't played on XBC more.
Game: CTF (Obviously)
Map: Battle Creek (A totally underrated CTF map)
Rules: 10 Captures to win.
Flag must be at home to score
Flag will return if you walk over it.
100% health + shields.
Generic Human Weapons
The battle was so undescribably intense (but I'll try). It was 6v6, so there was a good number of people and constant action. We had 3 units cycling. 2 defending, and 2 groups of 2 assaulting. The beautiful part about CTF on the Creek is the sheer number of routes you can take over a short distance. Sometimes we'd just mad rush up the middle suppressing with nades. Sometimes we'd get people at the side of the base nading into the flag room, while 2 guys inside waited for the go ahead, then the 2 naders would run support for the flag carriers. So much variety, and fast crazy action. The death tolls were ridiculous. We're talking 70, 80 ,90 kills each by the time it was done. Anyhoo, it ended in the most beatiful of ways, the runner stepping in to score just before the nade thrown to stop him explodes, I mean, seriously it was almost simulataneous. The game had been so back and forth, with each team having to dig and defend or balls to the wall attack so many times our heads were spinning.
Final Score: (Us)Red : 10
Blue : 9
Victory is sweet, but there were no losers that game. All we could talk about after is how intense it was and congratulate eachother on the copious number of fantastic and/or desperate plays pretty much all of us made at one point or another.
Anyhoo, I think more people should try this game, every bit as tactical as Blood Gulch, but much faster and more action packed.

CTF to 5, Battle Creek, 100% health, no shields, Shotguns.
Nuff said. Play that on Halo PC with 16 people or at an LAN and you have a gametype to rule them all. I like Gollum's, too. ;)

I like Halo2's new CTF. 1 team attacks, the other defends, then switches periodicly.

Actually, that's not really a new concept...they have Assault mode CTF on Halo. It's fun, but, I really like traditional CTF better, IMO.
My favorite CTF game is at Blood Gulch with Warthogs only, 5 second respawn, shields and the standard 100% health, flag must be at home to score, and the flag can be returned when touched. 3 scores wins the match.
The vast majority of people on XBC play with those rules with the exception of differing from the 5 second respawn to a 10 second respawn.
Personally, I hate the Ghost Ships with CTF...they seem cheap and it's way too easy to score...and tanks are a no no, too. Just the Warthogs...each team gets a Warthog to start off with...and a solid 3 v 3 or 4 v 4 is priceless!
Like Totten said, with that many people, it's incredible to strategize...especially in a System Link fest (as opposed to an XBC session). I love setting up a 4 v 4 with two TVs in the same room with 2 people on each TV...and then the other two TVs in a different room with, again, 2 people on each TV. It's phenominal...and it's awesome to strategize and kick some major ass!
As for Battle Creek CTF, I'm also a big fan...but, not like I am with Blood Gulch. Battle Creek is sweet because of having so many escape routes...whether the flag is taken from below, out the front, or below in the front...or thrown out the window where the flag is being held to a partner waiting outside...or having a partner on top of the building and tossing the flag straight up to him...it's an intense experience! 4 v 4 is my favorite with this, too :)
Hang Em High CTF is a lot of fun, too...especially when equiped with Rocket Launchers only :D

Battle Creek would be cooler for CTF if it was harder to get a capture. The fastest I have seen is 7 seconds.

fun but hard
Today it was the same for me another fun match with even skill level except it was a 10 player game. it lasted 45 min. 5 second respond, no rocket whores in the room, bg, and warthogs insanly fun

Well I meant as compared to what "normal" CTF is. Where both teams go nuts at the same time.
I can't stand traditional CTF, dunno why, just always hated it.

I never really get that many chances to play CTF, my friends get tired of it quick for some reason, I don't think we've actualy ever finished a game.
Hopefuly if I get XBC that'll all change, CTF is deffinently my fave FPS multiplayer mode.
