ESPN NFL 2K5 Full Review (http://xbox.ign.com/articles/530/530939p1.html)

"Are you kidding me? This game rivals Madden in every way and surpasses it in feature set... and it's only twenty dollars. Plus, it's out three weeks ahead of Madden. Fans of the series will love the improvements and continue to sing its praises. Those who haven’t tried it yet should give it a look at the low price point… it's easily worth fifty bucks, but you don't have to spend that!"

IGN.com - ESPN NFL 2K5

Presentation - 10.0
Quite simply, a sports game has never been this well-presented. This is the poster child for exemplary use of a license.

Graphics - 9.0
This is one handsome football game. Great animations, excellent player models, and cool ESPN integration make this a looker.

Sound - 9.0
Excellent contextual commentary utilizes the ESPN talent to the fullest. On-field sounds and music make it even better.

Gameplay - 9.0
Realistic and fun, packed with modes and features, this is a very complete game. Default difficulty is still too easy.

Lasting Appeal - 10.0
Can you make $20 stretch further? Online head-to-head and league play, an excellent Franchise mode, the collectible Crib, and cool VIP feature means you'll be playing this one 'til the cows come home.

OVERALL: 9.4

:) Oh man, I cannot wait for this game.

Here is the problem.

I was in my local EB and looking at some of the used games when I heard the clerk pimping pre orders to some customers. One of the customers asked about ESPN 2K5 being only $20 and the little brat behind the counter tells the guy that ESPN2k5 is crap and everyone plays Madden.
I wanted to reach across and strangle the kid, but that sort of thing is frowned on in this state *sigh*.
I just looked over at the guy and told him 2K5 was actually a better football game than Madden this year and for $20 you can't beat it. At least give it a try and if you dont like it bring it back. I think the guy was gonna wait instead of preordering, but my point is word of mouth advertising is very important and when the sales clerks are all pimpin games like Madden (as well as web sites, etc) it makes it difficult for games like ESPN2K5 to get an honest shake. The proof is in the game and if you play both the choice is easy.

sincerely, A happily converted Madden player ;)

sad but very true....
it's all about sales.........and getting preorders...
when I worked for gamestop..my goal was trust between customers and staff..
it's easier to sale that way...
