Connection problems

I had live since the start and like sometimes when i wanna login the activity light on my modem aint flashing all the other lights are on for the power receive send and online.For the activity i always gotta fiddle wiht the C5 straight cable sometime it would work and sometimes it dosent work so i wanna if i gotta buy another cable like that or get a new modem?

It's probly the cable, check that first, plus it's cheaper than buying a new modem.

You're cable might be bad - but are you rebooting your cable modem every time you switch from PC to XBox? You need to do so being that it has to clear out the MAC address that is stored in the cable modem when getting online.

I dont have a MAC casper but when you mean reboot you mean restart the pc from the start menu or restarting it from the back of the pc?

MAC address is not an Apple, man, it's the hardware identifier from the Network Interface Card on either your PC or your Xbox - each has their own number.

I meant rebooting the cable modem before changing it in between the PC and the XBox - this is why you get a router, so you can avoid rebooting it every time.

Well i do reboot it the thec guy said i gotta wait 10sec before plugin it back in but it dosen't work.
