eh, now i'm not impressed bc its the same stuff we've seen before. they should've shown more new stuff like the one in the end.

They don't need new footage. The sole purpose of showing it in theaters is to reach people who have never even heard about it anyways. The theater audience outnumbers the console audience by a very large number.

Yes but this should only reach to people who have and xbox in the first place. And mostly everybody who has an xbox has heard about halo 2 coming out. If it reaches people who don't even have an xbox (let alone a console)they probably won't go buy an xbox just to play halo 2

Um...so you're suggesting that Microsoft should market to people who already own Xboxes? See, this is why you're not in marketing. Everyone who has an Xbox is already going to buy Halo 2. What do you think the point of producing exclusive Killer Apps is? TO SELL MORE CONSOLES!!! PEOPLE BUY CONSOLES BECAUSE THEY HAVE A GAME THEY WANT TO PLAY ON IT! So yes, people WILL go buy an Xbox BECAUSE of that amazing game they saw in the theatre. That's the point of it, because as you said, everyone who has an Xbox already knows about Halo 2.

Now there's a winning marketing strategy... Let's advertise XBA to the people who are already members! That'll get more people on board!

Come to think of it...if we should only market to people with Xboxes, and everyone who has an Xbox already knows about it... then why advertise at all anymore... MY GAWD I THINK YOU'RE ON TO SOMETHING HERE! MS IS BLOWING MILLIONS ON THIS "MARKETING" WASTE! CALL THEM IMMEDIATELY AND LET THEM KNOW! The world of advertising is about to change forever.

Sorry, this one was so good I needed a double shot.

Isnt that kind of like false advertising when they dont use the real game sounds?

uhm, that doesnt make sense. Advertising is to entice those who are not alredy enticed.

New fooTAGE? GO BACK TO E3, THAT WAS NEW AT ONE POINT, PLUS WE DID GET THE END OF THE TRAILER*sorry for the caps lock, shhiiitty keybaord*

Anyways, zero and gollum have the right idea. If they are showing it at theatres, did you think it was meant for forum goeers? otherwise, they would show it at a forum.....

It's just common sense...

Personally, I think the trailer ruled...it got me pumped up that we are drawing more near to the release of Halo 2.

Do you guys remember the time when there wasn't an official release date and how so many people were angry for even saying "Halo 2"? For those own XBoxes that aren't as hardcore as us Addicts (which there are friggin' tons...seriously), they now know Halo 2 is coming out now. While this insertion may almost sound absurd, there are plenty of people who own XBoxes that don't know when Halo 2 is coming out...now they do...and for the rest of non-XBox owners, they now see a bad ass game that they may want to pick the XBox up for.

Seriously, dudes...my own brother, who is merely one year younger than me, didn't find out until recently that Halo 2 was coming out November 9th. It wasn't from the trailer in the theatre, but, he called me up last week to tell me this "big news"

Anyway, my point is, my bro loves Halo but isn't as hardcore as I am when it comes to gaming...and he is one of many. So, I'm kind of in the middle on this one. Obviously, Microsoft is Marketing to people who don't own XBoxes, too...so they will run out and buy one.

Personally, I thought it was great...but, you have to step back and think for just a moment...there are actually people out there that exist that are not as hardcore Halo fans than we are....and I can't wait to roast every single one of them on XBox Live :D

How do you know they wont go out and buy an xbox?

Do you have a clue about advertising and its purpose?

That was crap. Wouldn't make me go and buy an Xbox.

It needs to be convincing, no crappy cinmatics, I bet half the people there will think it's a film. Just 30 seconds of new gameplay and a release date was all that was needed, this stuff speaks for itself.

Dude, it's all new gameplay to people that haven't seen it. Didn't you even watch the video? It was exactly like you said it should be like.
