View Full Version : Too many injuries!

About half my games, one or more of players is nocked out due to injury. I've been able to come to only one conclusion: injuries are unrealistically frequent in ESPN NFL 2K5.
It's a natural temptation for developers to make such a rare, but momentous, event commonplace. They just want to show that their game really does have an injury feature. Unfortunately, having severe injuries almost every game isn't the way to do it.
Personally, I would support turning off the injury feature in single game mode since it adds another uneccesary layer of luck and randomness to a game which should strive for fairness.

Stop trippin peeping Tom. Actually it can't get anymore realistic. Injuries are da most common thing in da NFL. To be honest wit you most da hits dem dudes are gettin should really knock dem out da game! I had T.O. get punished and he was only out 1 quarter. I think it's pretty fair. Though my dawg canadianboi aka XBL tag: Big Fish aka 1 win wonder moe foe told me in one of his games he was da chiefs and he lost his 3 superstar in Homles, Trent Green, & Gonzo!!!! I was like daaaaaaaaaaamn dawg!

I use the Vikings and in the first quarter I lost Randy Moss. The very next play Robinson (WR) got injured. By half-time, my star center got injured. In the 3rd quarter, I lost my 3rd WR and a LB. All of this was in one game! I was ready to throw my controller through the TV.
Ninja, I'll be on tonight and most of the day tomorrow. Let's play!

I got hit hard in my franchise mode.. First ricky had tendenitis, but rehab for a week had him back in the lineup by kickoff. Heres the rest; minor (back spasms from practice), greenwood (Hairline fracture in foot), a couple of scrubs out for 2 weeks, and whats gonna kill me is Sam madison (Broken leg) out for 21 weeks, and jason taylor just got hurt (strained bicept) out for 2 weeks. Im not complainin cuz this is the nfl, im just glad more people didnt get hurt, the trade deadline is over, so im stuck with who i got and i dont have funds to get a free agent.
I got messed up at the very beginning of my franchise. 2 key players out for the whole season in game 1.
Needless to say, I am a cheater and started over. Things are ok so far. It was just too much in the very first game.

I'm seeing so many injuries it's like everyone in ESPN is playing without pads.
I'm 6 weeks into my first franchise season, and although I've only suffered two injuries (pretty unlikely as it is since they're both full-season injuries), some of the AI teams have half their first-stringers out. I just played the Titans and they had 9 injured players 4 out for a whole season when I started the game. By the end of the game, the Titans suffered two more injuries.
Why must injuries be so common? I've never heard of an entire D-line getting nocked out, yet that was the case with the Titans!
Also, I even saw a player out for "Food Poisoning," so not only do players get injured too often in the game, random number generators frequently victimize us when we're not even playing!
SEGA needs to fix this!

I suppose that would help off-line, but I'm most concerned about on-line play, espescially since I'm in two on-line seasons with injuries turned on. I'm just afraid that unless Sega fixes this half of every team is going to be injured. In both leagues we're only in week 1, but we're still averaging about severe injury per game--way above the real rate.

I still can't beleive I've lost men to FOOD POISONING!
I've also lost people for 4-6 weeks because of migraines, apparently half the NFL is migraine susceptible and they get migraines for months on end. It must suck to be an NFL player, since so many of them eat infected food and have permenant migraines! No wonder they want to be paid so much!

Peepers is totally right.. and the proof isn't only found in NFL.. but the same thing happens in ESPN Hockey. Injuries are way too common there as well. ESPN obviously has something wrong with their injury system.

I think developers just want to prove that they have the "injury feature" and they don't think it qualifies as a "feature" unless there's at least one injury in almost every game.

Dis injury deal is off da f'n chain mang! Now it's starting to cost me games!! More than half of dem are cause McNizzy'z gettin lame injuries dat keep him out da game. Yeah I run wit him like his a chicken wit his head cut off, but come'on. I had a game where 5 dudes (no joke) got hurt. T.O. first, then McNizzy, then da play after he got murked Jeff Blake got hurt da very next play!! Dis is beyond realistic!

In my first season I lost my middle linebacker and my cornerback for the year but after that I have managed to have a healthy team.

I started a new season in Madden as the Texans. I sim the preseason, as those four games are not worth playing. I find out that I lost Aaron Glenn, Sharper, Carr for half of my season. What the hell likelihood is that? I then lost Davis for a couple of weeks in my first game. I soon quit and started a new franchise as the Bengals...

I'm playing a season as the Bengals (Chris Perry is my starting RB, sorry Rudi Johnson fans) and in game 11 against the Ravens in three consecutive plays i lost my starting CB (Tory James), my starting FS (Herring) and my LE (Clemons). I ask you, what are the effing odds that that happens? Grant you, I just lost them for the game, but three plays, three players. granted, i appreciate EA putting in that scouting report everynow and then, so that your players are getting upgraded. Caleb Miller is now an 80 instead of a 70 i belive, as i lost Nate Webster in the preseason.
