Ok I'm completely frustrated. No matter what defense I call, no matter what team I use I can't stop a pass unless the reciever drops it or I cause pass interference.

On the other side, I can't gun the ball to any reciever without it being tipped or intercepted. I'm religated to lobbing every pass I throw. WTF am I doing wrong in this ****ing game?

make sure you pay attention to how many recivers they have in there formation before you pick a play. If they have 3 recivers a tightend and some backs you better be sure you bring enough CBs to cover thouse 3 WR, there are very few LBs out there that can cover a wide reciver man to man.

I would just suggest playing offline on "practice" mode and you can test your CB's on D plays or vis-versa. It's gonna take some gettin used too, but bottom line is dis game still carries bugs from last year version over as far as CPU AI.
But da other dudes right. When you pick your D plays look at da lining of da CB's and see how they will move once da QB snaps da ball.

I'm still trying to figure out some defensive plays. I've seen some very off man coverage from cb's while playing the CPU, watching the deep passes, and I need to play some more and figure out how to cover the middle better and sides on deep passes.

Ninja said it just right.. It takes a TON of practice. Also like panda said, make sure you have enough db's to cover the wr's. Or play zone, but zones have holes in them. Also, playin press man is a gamble, only good cb's wont get beat off the ball most of the time. If you are playin press man, you either a: better have safeites behind them or b: better be sending the house. Cuz speedy receivers will burn them. Deflecting the ball depends more on the players ability, lb's are not agile and will not jump for the ball most of the time. Aggressive db's will take that gamble. And elite db's will jump off their coverage if they even smell the ball in the air. My philosophy is, if a receiver is killing me, i play safety and help that corner, if the ball is thrown to that wr, then i will clean his clock everytime he touch it.

Try the dime formation and a play called 2 man. I have great sucess covering the pass with it. Usually I will pull my lb into coverage if I know someone is going to pass. If all else fails hit the L trigger and let the couch pick.

Yeah ... for this year you definitely need the safeties over the top ... the underneath coverage is up to you ... zone, hard zone, zone blitz, man ... it doesnt matter but the most important thing is to have the right personnell out there and have the safeties over top

Ditto that. Excellent pass protection... And many times you can rush the QB by picking a Defensive lineman. It works because usually the QB is have to look for the open man since they are being covered faily tight...
