Well I must say that 2k5 is a great game but there are some things that really annoy me. Such as spotting the ball, it seems to be off by a yard or two alot. And also the running moves are not a effective as last year. Anyone else agree?

The spotting ball issue is supposed to be like this, a few months ago Visual Concepts said this themselfs in a Q&A. Personally, I think they overdid it...they ment to have it realistic, though.

The running moves aren't as effective this year for a reason, to make it more realistic, however, if you use the at the right time, they'll be effective enough.

I've found on 3rd/4th and short suddenly the tackle animations are a bit different and it's incredibly hard to get the 1st down. I can run for 5 on first, 4 on second then try to get the last yard and the defense swarms. And I know how to pick plays. I end up passing on 3rd and short a lot. Oh and there's too many of the same faces in Franchise mode for the rookies. I'm just being petty, I love this game. :hump:

yeah, this game is great but I hate getting the shafty spots....and I feel they need to tweak the running just a tad bit more....seems a bit unbalanced now.

yes. i agree, the ball spotting is off at times. they often spot the ball a yard or two to far ahead.
and alot of times when i'm tackled at the goal line, the ball carrier's knee will be down behind the line, before the ball crosses the plain, but it's called a touchdown.

qb sacks is another thing that i have issues with. alot of times when the qb is sacked and is completelyat the end of his throwing motion, instead of releasing the ball, they hang on to it and take the sack...when in real life he still would have released the ball, but the pass would have been affected. this is not always, the case though.

and the injuries can get out of hand, as already mentioned in other threads

Yea, the injuries are nuts. A lot of the problems can be changed with the difficulty sliders but thats lame.

I hate how the 2 minute warning can go while you get done with a play, or when your calling your play, but the whistle won't blow, so you have to call your play, then the ref shows, then you have to call your play again - lame.

Also, what's up with the consistency of having a dropped pass then it's called a fumble - but yet, you have to challenge it and use one of your challenges so it gets overturned - wtf, just make the right call the first time and then deal. They kinda overdid the need for challenges this year.

They kinda overdid the need for challenges this year.

ok twice now in my season in critical moments in the game the computer made long quick passes to the outside to stop the clock and get into field goal range. one time the guy only got one foot in, the second time was the same except his foot was sliding out of bounds as he caught it. i lost both challenges  very frustrating. i agree with other complaints on here as well, but i only paid $15.88 for it on sale at target so whatever, it's pretty cool and fun otherwise

yep....and sometimes it won't even let me pick the right challenge for the situation.
i really hope they fix these small(ish) issues for 2k6

I kinda agree with you guys, BUT you have to remember that they tried to make this game as lifelike as possible. In the NFL, the refs do spot the ball wrong a lot of times, give or take a few inches.. Dropped passes arent a problem to me, if you dont believe me, play ncaa 2005.. There are dropped passes, but not many wide open drops. Also with injuries, you guys are too spoiled... Lets be for real, see how many stars get injured in the NFL this year... A lot... Im playin franchise mode now, and i lost AJ feely for the year, and sam madison for the year. Not only that, but i lost two linemen for the year during parctice, and one sorry punk took a game off for being ill.. I have no problems with that.. If you look at sportscenter now, there are stars who are gonna miss games from getting hurt during the preseason. I think its not as realistic as it should be, but everyone would be whining for sure.. This game does have it issues, but in my eyes, nothing major.

yes, but on this game it's often a yard to far ahead...sometimes more.

Dropped passes arent a problem to me,
me niether

Also with injuries, you guys are too spoiled
how about when 4 of your best players get injured in one half? happened to me. that's very unrealistic in my opinion, and not uncommon, from what i've read.

I think its not as realistic as it should be, but everyone would be whining for sure
i'm not exactly sure what you meant by that...but i don't think anyone is whining...just discussing the game's issues.

i think the shoulder charge is more than effective at times.

instead of blank faces they have composite faces for each rookie. sometimes they use the same face more than once though. I hope im never in the position where my best draft choice has the same face of someome i drafted earlier. I'll have to draft a guy that looks different...

Because you always look at the face when throwing a pass to a guy with a helmet and numbers on his jersey.....

What about the QB evade problem? I've seen guys that never ran in their NFL careers trick the defense into a 30 yd. running play with no problems - at least when the QB crosses the line of scrimmage, the defenders (not all, but some) should have the common sense to turn around and get the QB - unless they are covering a WR, but even the dline doesn't move...it's weird.

The main problem that I have encountered is the Two Minute Warning issue Casper spoke of. Doesn't really affect the game, but it is extremely annoying.

Alright I have played 20+ games now...

1. I agree with casp on the 2 minute warning deal, extremely annoying
2. The spotting of the ball needs to be fixed.
3. Running moves need to be a tad bit more effective.
4. QB evade needs to be addresses.
5. Somtimes when pulling on the right trigger when qb he does sometype of stutter step that is kinda annoying can cause some unexplained sacks.
6. The Fumble\dropped catch senerio needs to be worked on.

I personally haven't experienced injurys in my season. Some teams have 4 or 5 guys hurt some have none....I have played 8 games and still haven't got a injury in the season. Had a couple in quick game though...

Shaggy, what RB are you using. I have been able to dominate with Michael Bennett using shoulder charge and juke. I think the running it fine.

Note: I am not playing n00bies.

I am playing with Priest Holmes. It might just be Priest but I don't know. I haven't used the sholder drive that much I will give it a try and see if it makes a difference.

Absolutely! You need to use the shoulder charge...especially with a big back like Holmes, and also try the stiff-arm. It's very effective.

Yes the stiff arm is very effective.. I play with ricky, so i use the shoulder charge most of the time.. But, when i have a smaller back like Travis minor, i use the juke more... The running is dead on to me. I like how they shift their weight when changing directions from running high speed. And how they jump from one lane to another, it makes the movements more fluid.

I use Stephen Davis...and he pretty much plows most people over...although the moves definitely help. The only problem is that sometimes you don't think to use them because you are in the heat of the run.

Casper

Shaggy - I'm using KC too - Priest, as well as RB's like Bennett, James, and Stephen Davis are power backs, so the shoulder charge and stiff arm are their main techs that can own people. With finesse backs such as Portis, Tomlinson, and Corey Dillon, the jukes/studder steps/spin moves are their bread and butter - just gotta learn your players game.

My only issue with the game is the graphics. They are impressive and look great but I think they could have tone down the contrast when in game. The bright colors everywhere give it a "perfect" look. Other than that minor opinion, the game is sweet.

I never played 2k4, so seeing all the improvements from 2k3 is great.

i'm surprised that nobody has noticed an issue with onside kicks. i've played one complete season, and am 1/3 of the way through my second. in every 4th quarter when the computer is behind, they onside kick after a score. after seeing nearly 20 onside kick attempts, the computer has recovered all but 2. if it was that easy, everyone in the nfl would be doing it on every kickoff.

You're right, they are a little to easy. That punk Steve-o does it every time, even the first kick off!

Thanks Casp...that opened my running game up. I feel that stiff arm works best when going outside and the headchange when going though the middle. I am killing people at this game. This one dude that is staying at my house has been playing this game for about 2 weeks now. He has about 15+ games under his belt. I beat him 53-0 the other day, on 3 minute quarters. I was kc he was min. I haven only lost once and it was in my season. All I have to say is learn the hot routes!

As far as the onside kick, I used to think there was a glitch in the onside kick as well. I would put the kick as high and short as I could get and usually just run under the ball. I kept overlooking the fair catch. If you hit y they can't touch you!

hmmmm...i have discovered a very strange glitch. the depth chart, which works all season long, becomes a scramble once the playoffs begin. and each game rescrambles it. for instance, when my franchise playoffs start, trent green is no longer my starter, but some 3rd string schmoe. my starting wrs are screwed up and my des and cbs. i have to reset them before the beginning of each playoff game, even if i go from one game to the next, and regardless of whether i go resave them in the franchise menu rather than the game menu.

I haven't noticed this. My problem is during the season the game kept changing my kick and punt returner......I would change it, save it, play a game, go to the next game it it would be changed back.
