View Full Version : Looks like Fable isn't going to smash halo 2's record as i had thought...

They just freaking cut another major feature of the game... to me this was one of the main feature that attracted me to buy the game. wtf they can afford to implemet gay marriages and relationships, but you cannot have kids anymore booooo sh*t man. %#$@ BBB and lion head. the heck with them. they had basically took freaking 6 years to make this game. and what do we get now sub par stupid idiotic stuff the heck with this. i am really very mad at this. might think of droping my order, that is how mad i am right.
the only way they could suffice it would be to release this feature immediately it ships over live. that way i might be cool with em. else they should STFU :(
they didn't even have the guts to tell us to our faces, we had to read it at a review site.
The feature to e-pro-create your own children has indeed been dropped. This decision was made about a month ago, after E3 2004 for a couple of reasons. The first is certainly the most obvious one; both technically and gameplay-wise it did not meet the quality we are aiming for with Fable. The feature just didn't work as it was , it wasn't fun or didn't add anything to the gameplay. It would have needed more resources in order to get to that level we are aiming for with Fable and we were too busy finishing the game to do this.
We did discuss the topic in the office; I had many conversations with our PR Department and Design Team about this and on how to break the news. It was decided we'd mention it at the European Preview Event we had in July, but for some reason it wasn't mentioned in Seattle during their preview event. So far every feature change was mentioned in our communities, by use of the FAQ or on the boards. As the subject came up at our European preview event it was natural that this was when we announced the fact that you could no longer have children in fable. - As this was freely announced on 14th July it cannot be that the news was leaked by IGN
On a final note this; a director of a movie ends up with fourteen hours of material, of which he makes a two hour movie. The same could be said for the gaming industry; there are always more ideas or features then you'll actually get to see and play in the final game. That's common and normal for the entertainment industry.
For those who raised a concern; you can still get married to as many women or men as you want, and you can still have sex with all of them!
Or as a wise man once said; "Forget about losing multiplayer, forget about any gripes of what "was supposed to be in there," what you will get with Fable will blow your rock off."
remember BBB: release it as a downloadble content
guess gotta change my sig huh

i believe we should be the judge of that not them.
Why? It's their game. If you have been working years on something and know every nook and cranny of the game and story and how it fits into your vision of the game, and then there is this one little feature that does nothing to enhance that, or doesn't live up to the rest of the game, then you have every right to remove it. To go back to a movie analogy, there's a reason why there are deleted scenes. They just don't work.
I trust their judgement on the feature a lot more than random gamers.

I just got Sudeki. First RPG I've played in about 4 years. I'm digging it. It's getting me fired up about seeing Project Ego. I knew when they started it, what with everything they said they'd be pouring into it, it was too big of a feet... But after seeing how cool it's going to be, I can easily say it's the most advanced "Free-Roaming" game I've seen. & that says a lot. Especially with Morrowind out there.
Consider Fable already in my house, because that's one that no-one can afford to miss. If they do, they'll miss out on the best RPG of this generation of Vid-Games.

-You can have gay marriage
-You can't have kids
=that's f'ed up.
And I agree.
I personally liked the fact you could have kids, though I am dissapointed it's been cut, I'm not gonna keep from buying it.

most people dont play games to have kids
Or to kick a chicken
or to play soccer with severed head
or to tease little kids
or to flip off people
or to hump the air implying "let's go have sex"
or to make a frying pan the greatest weapon in all the land
or to develop a tan
or to buy homes
or to be a homosexual
It's a feature, that should be in the game when just as pointless features, such as I posted above, we're included.

Well Peter M. must've had his reasons for taking it out, he's the king of innovation so if he thought it would've worked I'm sure he'd have kept it (there's always hope of it in Fable 2 though!)
HEh, I can't wait to use the bolded gesture above on innocent bystanders, followed by the ol' flippin of the bird  ...

uh...what was so great about having kids in the game? what would that have done? I dont see how the game is WORSE with this feature taken.
Having another complex npc would have taxed the xbox for no reason.
It like what they said about trees growing.
When you start the game, the tree's would all be acorns and such, and by the end of the game, they would be full blown trees.
But wtf is the point? Sure, it a little feature you can say to your friend with a gamecube...
"look what happens to the trees in this game, can your system do that?"
but hell, about 15 percent of the cpu would be used on making trees grow, which adds absolutely nothing to the game, and actually takes away from other features which you interact with all the time.
Having anotheer AI running around, getting in the way...jhonestly wtf is the point? you supposed to go out and save the world from soemthing, not settle down and have a fmaily.
Spartan was right, maybe you have the wrong concept of this game. I reccoment you play the sims for the fmaily values, and play fable as an RPG.
the sims are a much better "life simulation" than fable, which form the beggining was suppsed to be a rpg, with hardcore rpg elements
and i know my grammar/spelling is terrible, but my new keyboard hasnt comein yet...

Maybe Fable charecters have a low sperm count?
It is pretty annoying really, four years in the making and even towards release they can still afford to cut features. What's it being delayed for? Surely that could have included this.
My expectations of Fable have actualy lowered a bit now, but I'm sure it'll still be a great game.

Halo 2 doesn't have any records, that what I don't get.
Besides the point, what makes you think Halo 2 will be better than Fable?

Well, I think that'd be kinda cool to have kids.......then you could go and knock up like 20 woman, and when they all come running toward you for child support you kill them and let the child run free as a rebel child......hehehe. Unless of coarse the child is a baby, then he would be taken in by wolves or something....THEN THERE'D BE THE WOLF BOY!

Or just your character.
Who ever wont buy this game because of gay marrage is retarded, just think, if a gay guy in the game makes a move on you you can kill him and all of the witnesses. Its another feature in the game to mess with. The more features the better.

That's a lot of peoples favorite games now is shooters. I don't think you can compare these two though because they're opposite sides of the spectrum. I'm positive they'll both kick butt though.
As far as "sales" better: There are more Pre-Orders for Halo 2 then any other game in history. Even more than GTA Vice City. That doesn't include the one's they'll all sell without that... My local Game Crazy's & Gamestops all average about 60 - 75 preorders per store. But that's in a big city. Still more than they've ever experienced!

If you're so upset about a small feature that didn't work in the first place, I'd watch how you treat members on this site before I make sure you can't access it either. Welcome new members to the site - don't push them away, or I'll do the same to you.

Well, mahz did insult him by saying "My friend's aborted fetus has better logic than you do. =( Either you think you're funny or you need to stop threadmaking."
But yeah, that's a very small feature. I think losing the LIVE capabilities was a greater issue than having kids. I mean c'mon.
I'll wait and see the finished product before passing ANY judgement.

Wow... that was sad.
Anyway, I don't care about not being able to have a kid. I don't really care about not having a shield either. I would have like to have horses in the game, but I have made my peace with that, same with the child murdering. The postitves and what we are getting, far outweigh what we aren't.
What Live capabilities are being talked about? I never heard anything of this game being on Live. The multiplayer was, in my opinion, a weak idea...but it wasn't on Live.

i believe we should be the judge of that not them.
Dude, don't get so broken up over it. If you had kids they would just be regular NPCs that really have no function. I'm sure BBB wanted them to be more, but it would require to much processing power on something that has no real benifit to the game.
Its like the feature of having trees grow and age with your character. It would take way too much (20%) processing power and just isn't worth it.
I'd like to see Fable 2 on Xbox Next so they can add all the feature the Xbox doesn't have enough power for, but I'm not going to sweat the lose of a few minor features.
Relax, not having useless NPC children isn't a game-breaker.
ps with all the hype of Halo 2 and its popularity Fable would never slow its sales anyway. People are going to buy both or neither.

lolz do not make me laugh. its ok for a new guy to come and insult me, but is not alright for me to put him in check right. as they say the devil you know is better than the angel you dont know.
if you noticed my past threads, this is very uncharacteristic. you should figure out why i said what i said before making threats you can't enforce anyway.

Yes it is. It doesn't really add anything to the game. Why do you so desperately want to have kids in a videogame?

Did you have some sort of accident that is going to prevent you from having kids of your own in real life? If so, then I completely understand your need to have kids in Fable. I would've been a bigger fan of the game of I could marry Natalie Portman and STILL be man enough to go out and mary three other women. When I heard Natalie Portman was not going to be in the game, I killed my preorder. Since you can't have kids and I can't marry Natalie Portman, I guess we'll just have to wait and see if they're both included in Fable 2. Either that or you could adopt..... :p

And I can't enforce this how? Since you've been here so long, has your genius mind informed the rest of yourself in your world that I'm the forum administrator? If not, then now you know, and I can enforce whatever threat I impose - trust me, I've done it before.
I know how you're past posts are, I've seen them, and this right here:

Is not only retarded, uneducated, and just plain stupid - but you should really look into where you are when you go onto a site and still tell someone "STFU NOOB" - do you say that to someone in real life? I was just pointing out the obvious man, nothing out of context.
Btw, kids IS a small feature. The only feature I'm disappointed about is that there's no XBL - I would have liked to have more of an MMORPG, being that they were working on this game for so damn long, you figured they would have given that to us, but nope. I'll be playing this game to kick chickens, that's it :)

So what if he was new? Does that make him any lower in the food chain than you? No, it doesn't.
It's an internet forum - relax, don't take everything so personal, and for our sake, learn some better comebacks then STFU NOOB - don't try and chase people away from the site that us as staff work so hard to maintain and try to support a great community. I've been doing this for 2 years now and that's why I have the position I do - because I've been fair. If I was as bias as you say, I could have just banned you for questioning me being on staff - I didn't ban either of you, I just told you to not try and tell someone to leave the site.
Get over it.

You're making this more of an issue than it is. Obviously it's important for us to welcome new members. That's why Casper came down harder on you. Even though Mahz provoked you, you could have been more diplomatic in your response.
