View Full Version : Just saw the OXM PREVIEW SPECIAL (AKA THE 24TH ISSUE) AND...

...nothing. Not even a disc, nevermind a demo. Total garbage. There'd better be something more when that countdown expires. Seriously, it opens up with a few pages on Halo 2, some new screens, some character models. It's pretty much a compendium of what you already know. Besides that...IT'S FULL PRICE. In Canada that means $12.99. Right. Two words to the editors at OXM "BITE ME". No way in hell am I paying full price for a magazine that doesn't even include a demo disc. Besides, a bunch of other stuff is just recycled from previous issues. I'm quite offended. Sorry guys, the "24th issue" is just a rip off. There may be a new snippet of info here or there (I didn't catch any as I glanced through) but frankly, I didn't buy it, because I'm not a sucker, so I have little else to tell. C'mon kids, a bunch you get together, throw in 2 bucks each, read it together and post anything new, but I doubt there's much. Standard OXM bait and switch tactics. They seriously need to get back their previous editor, this new guy is taking the publication down horribly.

maybe they're still concealing the stuff inside?

No! Lies......You lie!!!
I havn't seen this magical August 24th issue yet so I have faith in OXM.
But if there is no disk then its Dave Rees ass on the grill.
The OXM being the 08/24/04 surprise was just speculation as well.....
Who cares anymore, its probably some sort of announcement.

You've got to be joking. Rob Smith is the greatest editor known to man. He came from the best goddamn gaming magazine out there, PCGAMER. Anyway, OXM was crappy to begin with, I absolutely cannot believe Rob Smith can make that POS mag any worse. :argue1:

Right, PC Gamer, best ever. I've been reading PC Gamer for years, that's where they learned the bait and switch BS. Christ, look at the latest PC Gamer that claims on the cover to have a "First Look at Neverwinter Nights 2". It has nothing, they talk to a dev and he says "Yes it's being made, we're still talking and making decisions". It has 2 pieces of concept art. That's it.
BTW, where did you study media Spartan? I'd love to know what qualifies you to call this guy the greatest ever.
Oh yeah, OXM used to be great before the changed format. They went from a 120+ page publication to a standardized 96 pages, with more than 50% ads. The magazine sucks now.
The OXM issue is not wrapped btw for those wondering if the disc is hiding inside, it isn't.

Uhh, it's the holiday preview guide, not the regular magazine. The regular magazine comes out on September 7th and has all the new Halo 2 info you are hoping for, along with the regular demo disc.

Finally!!!! Someone posted this very important info! Good thing you beat me to it because it was a total and complete fluke that I selected XBoxaddict from my menu because the site has been down for so damn long.
One week down!?? Not too bad in a four year time-span :D

Uh, thanks Zero, for pointing out what I already know, the "24th issue" (which is what I am talking about, as the 24th is to do with ilb etc.) is the preview issue. The preview issue, which is what I am talking about, is full price, and contains no disc, which is what I am talking about.
However, hopefully, we'll get a kickass disc on the 7th. Do you have any details on that or know anything? Ah, I'm leaving for my honeymoon in Aruba, I don't really care.

It's my opinion after observing people posting on these forums that Zero usually think he knows something, when he doesn't necessarily at all....
Sept 7th has nothing to do with ILB.com, why would you even put that?

Zero never claimed what you are accusing him for. Zero simply acknowledged that the reason why the August 24th issue doesn't have a demo disc and limited Halo 2 info is due to the fact that it's a special Holiday issue of OXM, not the regular monthly OXM magazine that represents a specific month. The September issue is said to have a lot of new info on Halo 2 that hasn't been released anywhere.
I don't recall Zero saying this has to do with Ilovebees...So, I believe you're the confused one, jesusphreak.

Case in point:
Someone posted information about the beta in one of the forums, it included this:
"-There is no flashlight it is now a teamspeak button."
I asked, "I'm still really questioning this: do you have to hold down the white button to talk to your teammates (if so, that's horrible design)...."
Zero replied,
"Press the White Button = Team Speak ON
Press the White Button once more = Team Speak OFF
Simple yet eloquent."
My reply, "Yes, I've heard you say this before, but how do you know this is true?"
His final reply, "There's only two possible choices. I don't think Bungie would decide on the worst of the two..."
I'm sorry, but what kind of pissed me off about that is he posted his answer as if it were fact. He posted like this had been confirmed. Then, on my asking him further, it turned out it really was only his opinion that was the answer...
I just notice a lot of people seem to really look up to the guy around here - and there might be a good reason for that, but the guy doesn't know everything, and I think people need to treat his replies as such...

I understand where you are coming from, jesusphreak...and I guess most of us here already know Zero pretty well...and we know that not everything he says is necessary fact. I guess you were looking for a confirmation but, truly, the only real confirmation you and I and anyone else will get is straight from Bungie.net...no where else.
I remember the thread you were talking about...and I didn't take it literally only because I know Zero... But, most of his hunches have become true...probably because he knows some of the dudes at Bungie.
The real rule of thumb is that if something is not on Bungie.net, then, it's simply speculation and hearsay. :)

I apologize if I seemed upset at all, Zero....
Didn't realize you knew some of the guys at bungie...
