Judging by this picture, it looks as if Halo 2 will have split screen vertically instead of horizontally! Wow, that could be sweet for Widescreen TVs for sure...

Notice the fine line in the middle. There are two HUDS with two radar indicators, etc...

Oh god, hopefully there will be an option to choose vertical vs horizontal. Ive always hated vertical splitscreen for 2 players. It just doesnt look right.

If you go to the Xbox dashboard (Turn XBox on without a game in it) and go to Settings...you can turn on Widescreen. It's important that the game supports widescreen mode, which Halo 2 does. Halo 1, sadly, doesn't.

I agree, I like the option of doing one or the other. We'll see what happens.

If your TV supports wide screen, go into your Xbox dash board and set it to wide screen...
Vertical split screen is for ass clowns...
I'm sure its an option, i recall seeing horizontal split screens from the beta build.

A bigger TV gives you a bigger field of view. HDTV increases the resolution of the game you are playing so that it looks kickass. Think of the TV you are using as a McDonald's cheeseburger, and think of an HDTV as a cheeseburger from the nicest restaurant you have ever been to (Think Union Grill or The Cheesecake Factory.), the difference speaks for itself. Except, instead of taste, it is visual quality.

Actually, HDTVs are quite tasty.

Take NFL 2K5 or some football game. When you are playing on a regular TV (square), you see the quarterback and the lineman and stuff. On a Widescreen, you not only see the quarterback and lineman, but you can, for the most part, see the receivers on the side.
So, all in all, Widescreen literally gives you more visual room to the left and right.
As for HDTV...compare your TV quality with a computer monitor's quality. That's what HDTV does for you :)

Get a UDTV if you want to get way ahead of the game. 10x sharper than an HDTV.

Eh, I'd say Bungie would give you the option to choose one or the other.
If it works tho, I say go for it.
Doy you guys know any other games that support widescreen? cause i have a 50 inch HDTV and i would like to compare with turing off and on the widescreen for each game and see what it looks like.

I've got a question if you have widescreen tv and you play a game that doesn't support widescreen, then what will it look like... Do you get to black bars on the left and right side making it 4:3 format or ? Or do all xbox games have the capability to be in 16:9 format....
kappaknight
10-01-2004, 08:24 AM
You get black bars on the side OR you can stretch em to fit the TV. Only the newer games have the ability for 16:9.
