This is late, I got my Game Informer that had the cover story a week or so ago, but oh well.
The title is: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
and quess what system???
XBox 2 (Xenon, Xbox Next, whatever) & PC
Maybe PS3
and Possibly Revolution (or whatever they are calling Nintendo's system lately)
it's so beatiful, the pics are spectalcular!!!
They have all kinds of awesome stuff like an aging engine (or system whatever), and 4 types of shading(diffuse, normal, parallax, and specular highlighting) all combined.
Over 1,000 different charachters that have their own individual schedules of things to do in the day, but yet an actually smaller world than in the 3rd game.
The magazine gives a little backstory and lots more info, but I won't go into all that, pick up the magazine yourself, you should all get subscriptions, it's my favorite of the 4 game magazines I get.

What really impressed me was the rendering of items. Each maple leaf on the tree is exact and will react to wind blowing. The detail in facial features and armour looks astounding. Plus I love the fact that I will be able to travel aboard horseback. The games environment will so much lighter than Morrowind too. The story sounds good so far, and it entails an old english feel. The name of it will be Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which imparts that we will be atempting to save the world from Oblivion or Hell.

I think its great. Morrowind was just too huge, loads of wasted space, which is my only real complaint about it. Hopefully it wont be too much smaller tho, about 1/2 to 3/4 the size would be good.

Sounds awesome. I definitely like the aging, and especially the horseback riding. I hope you can fight with swords and bows on horseback. And I think it would be good if the world was roughly 3/4 of the size of the Morrowind one, but if it was huge it wouldn't bother me. I rather like travelling.

Does anyone have any pictures they can put in here? So we're looking at 2-3 years until release?

Oh my. Those are nice. I agree, if the fighting system is fixed I'll buy it too. I know they'll fix it. There's no way they'll make that big of a mistake twice, right?

They did state,in Game Informer magazine, that the combat has improved over Morrowind.

What was wrong with the combat in morrowind? It's not friggin Halo, guys. It's governed by stats, not by button mashing. I guess it's deceiving if you're not used to that kind of gameplay since it's real time and first person would make you think it's action oriented.
As for the world being smaller, that's too bad. One aspect I reaaly liked about Morrowind was talking to buddies about it a finding we all had truly unique experiences, plundering caverns and forts the others hadn't explored.
Oh well, it'll kick total ass.

I hope they keep the world big. If they have horses, as the cover indicates, that only seems like a reason to have a bigger game world, not a smaller one.

I concur with both Studio and Peeps here; a bigger game world = teh better. Thats one of the things that made Morrowind so great; you could explore for hours and never hit the same place twice.
And about the combat, we've seen what happens when you try to make first person hand to hand (which is very similar to the swords in Morrowind) to advanced, ie Breakdown. I hope they don't mess with it too much, because thats not what the Elder Scrolls is about.

I think my biggest hope is that Bethesda creates their first ever bug free game.

I wouldn't count on it. Not because it's Bethesda but just because it's a video game.
