Okay people, I've been having one heck of a time with the dunks in this.
Most of the basic stuff is real easy. But the alley-opps can be a pain in the hole. Also not knowning if there are still ones you don't know out there totally sucks!
So maybe we can bring to the table what we know and come up with a complete list of what can be done.
Gathers
X - 1 foot gather
B - 2 foot gather
Y - 1 foot 180 gather
A - 2 foot 180 gather
Rotate Left Thumbstick to do a 360 using "Y" or "A"
Dunks
X - Tomahawk tricks
B - Pump tricks
Y - Windmill tricks
A - Clutch tricks
Modifiers
L (modify dunk)
R (modify gather)
From what I've experienced is you can use "L" to modify a dunk, but it does nothing during the gather. And you can use "R" to modify your gather. But if you modify your gather the dunks are differnt, and you can't modify the dunk using "L" after modifying the gather. If someone can prove me wrong, please do, but I have found nothing.
Any combination of a gather and dunk will create something new.
For example:
"X" + "X" does a simple one foot gather with a tomahawk dunk.
BUT
"X" + "L+X" does a simple one foot gather with a tomahawk dunk which he pulls back a bit. Which gives a nice effect to the dunk, makes it look alittle more special.
Another nice one is
"X" + "L+Y" this will give you a nice one foot gather with a eblow dunk. You know when Vince dunked and hung from his eblow a few years back. You may think "L+Y" will always result in a eblow dunk, if you do think that, you'd be wrong. If you do "B" + "L+Y" it results in a two foot gather with a two handed windmill.
Anyways the list would be huge if we tried to make one of those.
It's baically
X + X/Y/A/B
Y + X/Y/A/B
A + X/Y/A/B
B + X/Y/A/B
X + "L + X/Y/A/B"
Y + "L + X/Y/A/B"
A + "L + X/Y/A/B"
B + "L + X/Y/A/B"
"R+X" + X/Y/A/B
I have not seen "R" work on any other gather then X. I don't know why or how, but does anyone know different?
Now the fun really starts.
Alley-ops
Right Thumbstick in any direction does an alley-op.
Modify the alley-op by using the triggers.
L - off the backboard
R - bounce before the basket, grab it after the bounce
L+R - off the shot clock
Some alley-ops go off the glass without any modifier. But the ones that don't can using "L".
There are tons of different alley-opps.
Up - one handed under arm thow off the glass
Up HOLD - two handed under arm throw, bounces short of basket Left/Right - looks like a shot, throws high and bounces short of basket
Left/Right HOLD - hits with eblow, bounces short of basket
Down - bounces ball on ground then off glass
Down HOLD - punches ball which bounces on ground then off glass
Remember with any of the above using the different triggers will make the ball do what the trigger you used is assigned to do, off glass, off shot clock, bounce short of basket.
Then you can do street fighter type movements. Such as:
Start pushing left then rotate clockwise all the way round to the left again doing a full 360. This will do a soccer type kick over your head. Very interesting to say the least.
There are many of these also. I have found some, I know there are more out there. Hopefully we can figure them out. If you find one please tell us :)
down clock rotate to the left
Down, Down/Left, Left
This will throw the ball from behind your back one handed.
down counter-clock rotate to the right
Down, Down/Right, Right
player kicks right leg out and bounces ball under leg off glass
left counter-clock rotate to down
Left, Down/Left, Down
back facing basket, bounce under legs off glass
opposite does the same thing (Right, Down/Right, Down)
right counter-clock rotate to up
Right, Up/Right, Up
back facing basket, granny toss behind back, bounces short of basket
left clock rotate to up
Left, Up/Left, Up
back facgin basket, does a backwards shot, bounces short of basket
Those are the ones I know. I have seen the computer do many others. Like off the head, off the knee, etc..etc... Hopefully we can work this out and get everything figured out.
In the Dunk Contest you can throw off other objects:
Dpad Up + right thumb stick in any direction = off the camera
Dpad Left + right thumb stick in any direction = off the left jumbo screen
Dpad Right + right thumb stick in any directon = off the right jumbo screen
There is also 540's and rumors about 720's.
I have seen the 540, I have been able to start it, yet I have not been able to finish. This is what I'm doing. Maybe someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.
While holding "R" and Rotating Left thumbstick counter clockwise or clockwise
"Y" gather + "B"
But after I do the gather intead of continueing to rotate the stick it do a left to right frantic motion back and forth I don't know how many times. My guy does a 360, then drops the ball and does another spin. I don't know what the deal is. I found on the message board for the game on gamefaqs.com peeps saying just rotate the stick, but I get nothing unless I do it the way I just explained. Does ANYONE know how to do a 540 or maybe a 720 even?
Well hope this can help someone out there, and I hope someone can help me. That way we can all help each other :) (sorry it's 3:32am, I act funny when it's that early or late)
