Almost all of it, Bungie is on Microsofts payroll technically, but I believe Bungie still owns the intellectual property. I'm not real sure what the deal is between Bungie and MS.

All I have to say is this: 1,000,000 preorders? Most games don't see that in their lifetime. If the game would freakishly flop by some black magic voodoo, then a profit was still made. The game prolly cost ~$10 million to make or more.

nope, the $5 you pay goes towards the purchase of the game, so it's $5 for the preorder then $45 when you go to get it

That's great to see that there are so many wise and intelligent people in this world to have that many copies of Halo 2 preordered.

$50? Sure, when they sell $1 Million, but, if you think about all of the labor that went into creating the game, marketing expenses, shipping, packaging, production, and manufacturing, that number dwindles and dwindles. Like Moose said, when all things are said and done, it's quite possible that Halo 2 cost about $10 Million to make. Not a bad margin MS/Bungie is making :)
