View Full Version : On Hold about Fable

Everyone have this feeling about Fable ? I am sure that everything about the sandgoose, the dragon and the Singing Sword is in the game. About near 4 years, they develop this game and how they just cut it off right away at the end ? In my opinion, i think is just they create this game so long that they need extra money to cover all over the past years. So, all of those stuffs will come on Xbox Live with a fee (10$-15$). I hate that but my sixth sense can't just think about this. Maybe this is the conversation about the staff:
Peter Molyneux: ''Hey, about five years we can't sell this for 49,99$....all our hard work is just a little bit like that?''
Simon Carter: ''So what do you want to do with it?''
PM: ''Maybe we need to hold on something in the game then sell it out later to gather more money with it, what do you think?''
SC: Great idea, we can make a expansion pack or just release it on Xbox Live with a fee.''

No. They can't get lot's of people to download pricy DLC unless they have a really big user base of potential customers. Therefore, their first priority is selling as many games off the shelf as possible--to do that the game needs to at least approach the level to which it has been hyped. Removing components of the game is not the way to boost sales and meet hype.

boost sales? um...check this.
Fable sold more than 375,000 units during its initial week of release (which translates into about $18.7 million gross). To offer some perspective, in one week that's about half the number of units Knights of the Old Republic sold in its first six months.
As for record breaking, Fable was had the biggest first-week sales at EB Games of any Xbox title, ever. At Game Rush, it broke first-week records for any game.
a few more months, especially with the Christmas season approaching, should have it at a million copies. then they spring the addon...that'll go a long way toward covering 5 years of costs, but extra content at 10 bucks will probably do another 5 million.

I'm having a dilemma with Fable...should i trade it in to pay off my Halo 2 preorder, or should i keep it, and get Halo 2 when i can afford it? (which will be about 2 weeks after release)

Keep it and steal your parents money to pay off Halo 2.
And if they do release good DLC they better also make it available to buy or on OXM discs cause I dont see myself getting Live for a while. Just not one of my top priorities.

Unless you have some other means of raising money, I would definately dump Fable for Halo 2.

I'd keep it.
In general I'm against the whole practice of trading in games(unless they really suck)
Takin three games that cost you 150 an swappin em for a 50$ purchase, which prolly cost the manufacture a whoppin ten cents to produce, is'nt too fiscialy sound and wont leave you with much of a gameing library.
I'd keep it.

So holding onto a game you're not really playing anymore and getting nothing for it, is more fiscally sound than getting a return even if minimal?

I'm saying it's not a good idea to trade in GOOD games in return for half the going rate, especially if you know you might want to play it later and have it as part of your gaming library, just because youre feinding for the latest game.

You could try to sell it on internet swap shops. Just ask for cash only.
