View Full Version : Halo Killer? Think Again

Killzone, the PS2 Halo killer, has been reviewed by ign.com and its score. No drum roll please:

7.5 (A good game with obvious flaws)

All I have to say is that I'm glad that it's finally all over. This review proves that the PS2 is technogically inferior to the xbox. Judging by the problems described in the review, it's apparent that they didn't test this game enough.

Red it Here. (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/561/561669p1.html?ui=ign_theme1_2)

It took you this review to learn that? Everyone has known that since Xbox came out :p

Yes I did know that before the review. What I meant was that this game was talked about as being able to dethrone Halo/2 as the premier console shooter because of graphics/gameplay etc. This is more or less the last nail in the coffin for PS2. Sony is already pulling the "re-release our console to keep up with the market" trick.

Despite this, you just know we're gonna get some PS2 Fanboy on the site claiming Microsoft paid IGN to give it an average rating and it's actualy a really amazing game.

Ever since mid-'03, I haven't even seen a PS2 fanboy. I think they all died when they realized how much better Xbox is :)

Wasn't surprised, the demo was crap and uninspiring.

I would rather they had made a good game so I'd have another fun game to play. And let's say it had upped the ante; competition in quality would only benfit us, the players. But keep on with the the fanboy circle jerk.

ummm, who are you calling a jerk?

I'm also glad this is over, don't have to worry about arguing with anyone, because I can just show them the review scores. I did play this demo, and it was not all that great IMO.

right, because there aren't enough good games coming out in the next few weeks.

I don't own PS2, I don't like PS2, and I know PS2 is inferior to Xbox. When people come out and make outragous claims like "Killzone is PS2's Halo-Killer" the review holds some merit.

This is really too bad if you think about it. I genuinly hope there will be a game that can truly be referred to as a "Halo Killer"... The reason being, in my opinion, there is no other game that remotely touches Halo...not even one that comes close. If there was a game that can excite me more than Halo/Halo 2 does, I say, sweet!

But, one thing is for sure, it's not Killzone

Nothing can yet touch Halo. I could see the next Perfect Dark game pushing it to the side, but thats gonna be next generation.

The one FPS I am really looking forward to this generation, besides Halo, is being made by Wideload (owned by former Bungie dude). Its based on the Halo engine. Looks really good and sounds pretty funny. No Halo killer but could definately be an entertaining game.

Big deal, the user base for PC's is so much larger than the console base that it's like comparing the population of Antarctica to the rest of the world.

In other words, what you said is a completely pointless context to compare with.

Excellent! The fact that Wideload is the same engine as Halo should make it definately worth checking out, IMO. Looks pretty sweet

Heh, not really. Halo 2 has been getting between 9.7 and 10 from what I have seen, and Half-Life 2 has a 98%. I would be interested to see what other scores it has received, I know I'm buying it for Xbox if it ever comes out... Whichever game loses score-wise, we still win!

yeah we do, but half life 2 has also received two 10/10's.

i've only seen one review for halo 2 though the 9.7.

but either way we still will have a **** load of fun this holiday season!

But that 9.7 you speak of is out of context. That is the highest rating OXM has given out...ever. But you can't be more right. It doesn't matter what you play games on this xmas-season, you are going to have a nice selection of games to choose from.

Am I to understand that HL2 is going to beat H2 in sales? Just a little fact: at our store we got 389 preorders for h2, for HL2 we got 6. I hope that no one seriously thinks that HL2 can out sell H2.

the reason noone is really pre-ordering half life 2 is because you order it from steampowered.com you get a much better deal on the silver package, you preload it, and as soon as the calendars hit the 16th you can start it up, no waiting in lines either.

I hate to say it, but im pretty sure HL2 will outsell the best game ever, soley based on the fact that there are sooo many more pc's and pc gamers then there are xbox's and xbox gamers

If all it as to offer is online play, as that review argues, then I don't have a whole lot of interest considering Halo2 looks to be the online killer for consoles.
