Morrowind was one of those games that you either loved or you hated. I happened to love the game and had a crap load of fun doing everything I could. I was so incredibly in depth and well done. There was just so much stuff to do. But it wasn't too much that made it seem overwhelming.
The new one looks beautiful. Hopefully the in-depth-i-tude can live up to ES III.
I can't wait until they release some juicy story bits. This game is gonig to kill me after Halo 2 comes out because I'll have to wait so long for it to come out. I see this being the next "most anticipated game in history."

While I love ES, I don't see it being Halo 2 in terms of people anticipating it. But among those who are waiting, it may well be that we desire it much more than Halo 2.

Well, I agree that an in depth rpg is a must. Game Imformer magazine did infact release the beginning of the story. Check out their October 2004 issue, if you are a fan. According to the mag all the pictures are real(not altered in any way), they state that this is how games will look on the next generation Xbox
As far as the story itself, a little bit has indeed been released by the afformentioned magagzine. The setting is Tamreil, populated with 1,000 NPCs. These NPCs exist 24/7 :) The story begins with your character in prison, whilst an assassin has entered the prison to kill the Emperor of Tamreil. The gaurds decide to evacuate the emporer through a secret tunnel leading through the prison. It also happens to run straight through your cell. You are warned by the guards to stay back and not to follow, but the gaurds are slaughtered by the assassin. So, naturally, you pick up the gaurd's gear and take your leave. The assassin kills all the gaurds untill you, alone, are left. Will you help the emporer?
There a few more tidbits, but like I said, the magazine tells it better than I. It sounds like a good rpg with a good story plot. I can not wait, it is a beautiful game to be sure. :hail:

I cant say how much I LOVED Morrowind. And am looking foward to Oblivion more than any other game in the works right now.
What the game lacked in gameplay mechanics it more than made up for in scope and deapth of charecter development, and while I'll admit that that the story and fighting could definatly use some refinement,I am a bit disapointed to hear that theyre cutting back on the wide open enviroments, which I felt gave the player a sense of being in a living breathing world.in fact if it were up to me,I'd like to see a world two or three times the size.(I'm always dissapointed when I've run out of new things to see and new places to go)
See,I like the fact that initally just getting from place to place can be an arduas adventure in itself.I play a tape of that folksy minstral music from the old animated Return of the King an set out on the dusty rpg highway.(well not realy, but frivolous point made)

It didn't suck. You didn't understand how to play it. Everyone I know who actually gave the game a lengthy go at it ended up being enamored with it. Maybe you didn't like it, but that's not proof enough that it sucks. I don't like Madden, but that doesn't mean it's a crappy game.

Good point. I admit that when I started Morrowind I was overwhelmed and thought that I would dislike it. The more I played the more I understood. Once you get the hang of it it is a very addictive RPG.

I remember the first time I played it. "Why can't I kill this stupid worm thing! Arrrgh!" THen I realized my guy wasn't skilled with the knife. It has a pretty heavy learning burden, but once you know it, it becomes a pretty easy game to exploit.

yes Oblivion is a next gen game. True about the Fable thing, but Oblivion is coming from a trusted game developer unlike Fable. I trust Bethesda to make a decent rpg.

Very true. Besides, Bethesda will take their time. They would never screw up Oblivion...when Morrowind was so popular (and profitable).
I myself am a Morrowind fan, although I don't play it anymore. We probably won't see Oblivion on the Xbox...but hopefully on Xbox 2. Bethesda tends to stick with the PC/Xbox world.

Ok so here is the deal. My Dad just got Morrowind GOTY and when I first started playing it I was like "Dad you f***ing idiot what did you waste your money on this load of crap for!!!" But then I was sitting around and got board with beating Halo 2 for the hundreth time. And disided to give the game a desent go. And now I am obsessed can't put it down. I would more then likely be playing it right now if I were not at work. Once they fix the single motion fighting problem it will be sweet too see ES: IV. And I am holding my breath and waiting for it to come out. Oh... Wait that's something else... GOD! I need to change my underware! BRB.

That being said, I too, came here looking for Morrowwind GOTY info... I love the game, loved it on PC.. I need to buy thte game guide...
Can I ask for help here???? I hope and beg for it..

It's on a shelf to your left as you enter the room. I've not heard of any bugs concerning this box (the game won't even let you pick it up if you're not first asked by Hasphat to get it) so you may have picked it up by accident and sold it or something. Check the traders in Blamora to see if you did.
Damn just started playing the game again, I gotta admit I knew nothing about it before. (I thought I did.) I just robbed all the vaults in Vivec and got my stronghold from HOuse Hillaou. Cant wait to go play some more.
BTW- that dwemer box took me like 20 minutes to find and I realized I was right next to it the whole time.
Ahh, the Dwemer puzzle box. Sometimes I really miss Morrowind (even though that was a crappy quest)

I swear, I must be as blind as a bat, really dumb, or both.. I have, literally, spent about 2 hours, with torches in hand, etc.. that thing is just not there, and I looked for it with a game I saved, before I went into the building... One thing, according to all cheat guides and stuff, I am supposed to fight some tough guy named Boss something or other. I did not fight Boss in the room, I fought some guy, rather easily I might add (Ahhh, the White Sword of Woe... I like how I stole that sucker!!!) the thing was no tthere.. now you guys are talking about the room with some machine in the middle that has a big wheel attached to it, spinning, with two metal shelves across the hall. As you enter the room, there are two rooms on either side.. one with crates, one with steel barrels? I have looked on these little shelves on the corners of these two rooms... is that where it is? Nope... NADA, nyet, nein, non...
I said to HELL with it, and went on with my battles, hanging out in Vivec now after getting some bird some dopey Books, and now I have to find out what happened to the dwarves... I STEPPED ON THEM!!!
StudioAlex
03-23-2005, 05:36 PM
I think you didn't go into the right room. As you enter the ruins, follow the path to the ground. Go up the rock to where all the big circular doors are. The room you need is the door on the second level that is perpendicular to the other doors. Boss should be right in front of you as you enter.

Though, IMO, there two best RPGs are Morrowind and KotOR (with KotOR II). But Morrowind was an excellent game...certainly one that was "revolutionary".

Becoming Head of House Hilauu is very easy if you know what to do. I haven't played the game in so long, but the guy who is headmaster or whatever its called, you just have to kill his brother who is in some little farm south of Balmora. After you kill his brother, you just go and talk to him, and boom, you are head of House Hillau.

No, it's north of Vivec on Lake Amaya.
Anyway, check out this excerpt from an Oblivion interview that appeared in this month's issue of play magazine (which you should all be reading).
play: What are some actual in-game instances of this powerful "Radiant AI" in action?
Todd Howard, exec producer: I have a great one from just the other day when I was testing a quest in a city. I was pushing an NPC for information, and when he wouldn't cough it up, I attacked him, and he quickly ran out of the building we were in. This was not expected behavior for the quest, as he was supposed to stay and fight. So I pulled up some debug information to see what he was doing, and he had left the building, went down the street, bought a dagger and ran back to fight me. It turns out another designer had recently finished the weapon store next door and the guy I was fighting decided to use it. Hilarious.

Let's put it this way, all of the elder scrolls have been open ended. every game bethesda has made has given many choices for the way you do things, wereas games like Fable have given choices but always end the same or too similar. Bethesda likes to make games were u can actually choose exactly the way u wanna live ur life. for example u can kill everyone in a town on fable and they will respawn over time, wereas in morrowind each character looks different, although some look alike, and they never come back if u kill the whole town.
even though there are glitches in the game such as the fact that u can be in 1 town and have a bounty and in the next town u go 2 no matter how fast, they will know about ur bounty. if they r going to have that happen i think they should at least have an explanation
to end my explanation i completely love rpg's and play them as much as i can. concluded from my extensive play, *pushes imaginary glasses up nose* MORROWIND ROCKS ALL RPG'S FOR XBOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D
heh..i recently started playing morrowind again...no doubt the greatest game on the xbox ever made IMO. i also got stuck looking for that tiny little puzzle box and spent maybe a day or two...that was probably the most frustrating part of the game. luckily i didnt give up.
i beat the game once as head of theives guild, mages guild and Berne vamprie Clan...now im playing it again and im
head of House of Telvanni --stronghold they gave me was great.
Head of Figthers GUild
Head of Imperial cult
head of Temple
was one of the two remaining Vampire clans-started with an A, i think Aure
currently working on missions for morag tong
trying to collect all the transport keys for the ancient dwemer strongholds..
not even worried about the main storyline anymore. after i finish the morag tong quest i think all i will need is to start over again and try to do the remaining two houses, the legion garrison stuff, and the last vampire clan.
maybe the most fun thing i have done is collect all the armors and weapons in the game and decorate my stronghold with them..only thing i am missing is a cuirass for the deadric suit..
maybe one day ill find a fellow morrowind addict who has the goty edition and will be kind enough to let me borrow it..
as far as oblivion is concerned..i try not to think about it ..otherwise i might go crazy waiting for the game...i just hope they take oblivion to a whole new level.

For those of you who played Morrowind on the computer and Xbox, which was better overall?
I know a lot of people said Morrowind was sweet on the computer, so I might pick Oblivion up once it comes out for my PC versus my Xbox 360.
I thought it was much better on the PC but that was mainly b/c of the sweet mods that were available.
Anyone out there still play morrowind? I just started to really get into it. I finished the Raven Rock quests. Im 3/4 thru the main quest. I'm a level 33 and my highest skills are alchemy and acrobatics (both maxxed out at 100). I've got a good deal of the Hllauo missions done and same goes for the mages guild. Anyone out there play this game?

This is an old thread, but I can definetly see why it has been brought back from the dead.
I too have just started getting into morrowind and have beet the main quest. A few days ago I started on the Bloodmoon quests to find that my game freezes right when I get to the start of the quest to kill the person who is the cause of the fire on the ice lake.
I have to go back to gamestop and see if they will give me another copy...
Ya sorry to post this in 2 threads but this seems like a better place for it. I finished the morrowind main quest (damn, keening is the sweetest piece i've ever seen). I'm gonna beat Hlallou hopefully tonight and then after that beat Redoran. I've completed Raven Rock but I'm not sure how to start the bloodmoon main quest. Any help??? I'm also trying to find the artifacts for the museum of artifacts in tribunal. Has anyone seen the warhammer that they have in there? It weighs like 1000+ and I dont think anyone can carry it (unless you cheated your strength).

To start the bloodmoon main quest, you must talk to the captain of the fort about low moral, or something of the sort.
And I am not sure, but I don't think you can start the Redoran quests if you are already a member of Hlallou. When I tried, they said that i couldn't because I belong to a different house.
I have not started the tribunal quests yet, but I got pissed when the dark brotherhood tried to assasinate me, so I went to morenhold and killed the person with my assasination document.
I have heard rumors that in Hal Odl, you can get someone to build you a house... Have you heard anything on this?
By Hal Odl do you mean the little town that is southwest of Balmora? (i think its hlao oad). But no I've never heard of it. I also just went to tribunal and killed the whole dark brotherhood stronghold.

That is a crapy town, but I heard that you can get a person to build you a house somewhere in the town.
No it is right next to hlao oad. It is the 'stronghold'/town for house hllalou. You just have to beat all of the Hllaou quests and talk to the guy for him to build it. (the 'stronghold'/twon is actually in odeia plateou, which is just a tad east of hlao oad).

I found out something cool. In mournhold (tribunal), right outside of the palace door (in the courtyard) there is a guy who will follow you wherever you go and carry all of your luggage for like 250 gold, and he carries it for 30 days. He's my *****.

There is a cool stronghold called Bal Isra in the Ashlands. There realy mean to Hlaalu members but dudes got a Ebony Longsword, Ebony Arrows, and Ebony Throwing stars. Not to mention a few gold coins :) ...
Bah I'm tired of ebony. It's such a standard weapon. I mean all ordinators have an ebony mace and all you have to do is get you speechcraft up to 100 and taunt them. They will attack you, you kill them and you get their stuff w/o getting in trouble. Oh yeah also the fact that it is heavy.
Hangnail
07-07-2005, 07:18 PM
Ebony is a plain weapon, but is worth alot. But no one has enough money to but the stupid stuff! Thats one thing I didn't like about Morrowind, is the fact that no one has any money to but the expensive items you have! Mournhold people are the richest, and they only have around 15,000 bucks to spend. My merchencile and personallity are so high that I can sell 3 peices of paper for that much!
I hope Oblivion has a higher standard of living...

Haven't you heard of gamefaqs?
Here's a useful link (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox/game/915084.html).
Here's an excerpt from a faq:
King Helseth wants to know whether or not the Tribunal Temple will
support him when he takes over as King of Morrowind. Usually, the puppet
King has no real poweror ambititons, and the Temple supports the King
freely, such as Llethan. Helseth, however, has some real ambition, and
he's afraid he will gain the Temple as an enemy. He wants to know before
they strike.
Delitian wants you to find a member of the Temple that is discontent
with the way things are going inside the organization. Exit the Palace,
and enter the Temple on the north side of Mournhold. Once in the
reception area, take note to the brown robe wearing Dark Elf: Fedris
Hler. He's the quest-giver for the main quest. You may or may not have
already done quests for him, but if you haven't, this is the guy.
Enter the infirmary and walk into the first door you run into. Talk
with Galsa Andrano. She's not the only person discontented with the
temple, but we only need to find one person. Feel free to talk with
others inside the temple; the process is all the same, however. Do
whatever you want.
Talk with Galsa. You may need to bump her disposition up quite a few
points, so that she spills the beans that she's unhappy with the current
situation inside the temple. When you have the choice, choose to listen
sympathetically, then ask if you can talk with her again. Delitian
made sure that you do this, as she may change her feelings about
becoming an informant if you are just using her. Talk with her again
about being discontent, then ask her about the Temple's opinion of
Helseth. She says its clear that if the Temple has its way, Helseth will
not become King.
With that information, go back to the Palace and talk with Delitian
again.
So it looks like you may need to bribe her a bit to get her to rat out the church.
Hope this helps. Now, go kill that stupid... wait, don't want to spoil the ending.
I did that mission like 6 missions ago. I could have helped you out but i guess i skimmed over your post.

I really hope ES IV wont have as much darkness or glitches as ES III. I also heard that there will be an ElderScrolls: The Blood Moon. And every 28 days the moon comes full and turns red and u can become a werewolf. It sounded legit and pretty cool. I hope they do this...
Has anyone on ES 3 ever found the bottle at the eastern most sea with the message in it that is in another language. Its an easter egg...my friends say they've found it, but i can't find it at all.
Damn, just beat tribunal and got hopesfire and trueflame. DAMN! these are easily the best looking weapons in the game. now hopefully i can beat bloodmoon by the end of the day. i heard you get a wolverine ring.

You mean deadric armor? If so, i know there are deadric greaves in Drens plantation. They are right behind dren, along with some Ebony armor. Make sure your sneak is high though, or he will see you.
There is also a key on his desk to the basement. There a two guys in there with glass knifes and about 10,000 bucks around the room. And some moon sugar....mmm moon sugar....
If your a member of the Morang Tong, then wait before you go in the basment. They are two guys you have to kill.
yeah that one tomb thing that has eldebons ward in it has a ton of daedric loot.
