SUDDEN DEATH: Please clarify

I have no clue what constitutes a sudden death in any of these game types. I can understand if the other team has touched the flag, or even if they have the flag out in the open away from the base. But sometimes these fools dont even touch the flag and they get sudden death. WTF is up with that? Does anyone know the exact rules or what will cause a game to go into sudden death????

I think there is a certain radius around the object, so if there is someone from the other team inside the area (for example, in or on the coagulation base), the game will be put into sudden death. IT will also happen for the reasons you listed in your post.
