Hey I want to fixed my xbox, it skips and freezes (image and sound), so I assume that it is the opitical drive giving me problems. Sometimes I don't get an image or sound at all. I wanted to try a replace my drive rather than give $80 to bill gates to fix it. And I was wondering what the best dvd drive for it was? So far I have seen philips, samsung, and thomson is another one I don't know?

Ya those are the only three and basicly its pretty much just the Phillips and Samsung that are being sold now because of how sucky the Thompson drive is...Go with the Samsung rather than the Phillips because its nice and quiet...plus I think its supposed to be the better of the two anyways.

My friend has a Phillips, and I have a Samsung. Mine can read CD-Rs and his can't. Aside from that, they are pretty similar. I used to have a Thompson, and those are horrible. Heh.

I've actually had all three (had problems with both Phillips and Thompson), and IMO the Samsung is my favorite. Plus it looks cooler :hump:

Whatever is in my Halo Edition Xbox has given me zero grief since I got it to replace my aging and not so reliable launch Xbox.
