I have searched for this problem for a while and haven't seen anyone else with anything quite like this, but I may just be blind and illiterate. Anyway, sometimes while playing online my cable modem will reboot! It happens most (or is at least most noticably) while playing Halo2. I'll be playing along and then all of the sudden it says everyone else quit and then it says "Game Over". When it happens I can look down at the cable modem and watch it in the process of rebooting! I called the ISP and he came out and put a little filter on the line, but that doesn't seem to help any. He said my modem was working properly and my signal strength was great. Anyone out there have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
p.s. I have a D-Link DI-624 router running firmware version 2.42 (I tried ver 2.5 it did the same thing so I reverted since Microsoft says 2.42 does work). I have the problem regaurdless of wether or not any of the computers or TV receivers are on.

I know this sounds silly man, but I would check the power connector on the back of the modem. See if it is loose at all. Your router does not have the ability to cause the modem to reboot at all, nore should anything that you are playing. I would just ask your cable company if you could just exchange the modem for a new one. See if that fixes the problem.

Do you have DSL? Sounds like you do, and the reason he put in a filter is so that when you get calls and someone answers it, it doesn't disconnect you. It also sounds like it could be a firmware issue with your modem itself.
I'd suggest looking at www.dslreports.com - search for your ISP and then get help on the forums for your ISP there. They have techs that work for the ISP's that post there to help.

Thanks for the quick response! I know the power connection is in good and tight, but I will try replacing the surge protector and see if that helps. Didn't think of that until just now. I planned on trying for a replacement unit, but I was being opptomistic and hoping it was something I could fix myself. Also, I have cable not DSL, he put a filter on the cable line, he said it would prevent my receivers from trying to send packets out over my Internet connection. It's just a mild irritation to me, but I am sure it can be more of an irritation to those I am playing online with in team games when they lose a player! Thanks for your help!

What company is it?
Have you contacted 1-800-4MY-XBOX yet? They might know of a conflict with your ISP (I have OptimumOnline and 90% of users were unable to stay logged in due to a problem for 2 weeks, I wasn't affected though, thankfully).
Good luck.
