Congrats to all the winners. If U didn't place post your wallpaper here: fullsize, reduced size, or attach it so your work won't go unnoticed by everyone here at the forums. Post it in here even if you happened to be post it somewhere else so we have all of them in one thread. I'll start it off with mine at 800 x 600

Okay GokuX and Xboxhh... you guys certainly deserved to win something. Your style and layouts are EXTREMELY superior to those who won. I would have preferred to lose to you two instead of the crap that they picked. And I can now call it crap that I've seen at least 2 desktops I can respect.

Here's mine

If these two(Goky and xboxhh) didnt get any acknowledgement, and that Wreckless and PGR ones did, then apparently something is a little ****eyed here.

thanks, I dig your second one

a LOT. Maybe we just have an aesthetic that other folks don't like very much or something. Maybe they dig the big literal images more then the texturey stuff we're doing. Which is fine. Each unto their own.

Cool Xboxhh, thanks :)

I do think it is the idea of design that isn't taken seriously here. Rather it is the blatant fanboy mindset that kicks in. Hey look it has this on it so that makes it cool...

Anyways, I looked at your site, pretty cool stuff there. Have you had troubles finding work lately? I've been laid off for a year and have had no luck at all.

Here's the site I'm working on:

Take it easy!

Yo Wooc, thanks for comments. I can definitely appreciate the formal artistic/design qualities in your pic and can see that you put in a lot of time. I'm glad that you won something, it woulda been nice to see it a bit further up the list. Same goes for you xboxhh and Myth, both of yours are amazing and must've taken quite a while to put together. I'm kinda baffled myself, I saw Technoholics and also thought that one shoulda been in the top three for sure. I know the judges had a tough decision, I guess some of us are just confused by what criteria the wallpapers were judged by. Again I say congrats to those that won and awesome work to those that are posting here, definitely some talented people here. Keep those wallpapers coming so we can see em all. Hey Technoholic can U post a full size pic of your wall paper? I only got to see that thumbnail pic so I couldn't see some of the details. Hey Wizkid, I used Photoshop 6.0 to construct mine, I think that is what most of the people used because it allows U to build pictures from layers that U can manipulate independent of each other instead of regular drawing /paint programs that just have one layer so if U overlay something, that's it, U can't delete it without having to do some cloning to get rid of it. The only bad part is that Photoshop costs in the hundreds of dollars since it's a professional graphics package, but it really is worth it.

****, I wish I would of found this website before so I could of tried to throw one togather. For the person who asked what are some good tools to do these kinds of things, usually it's a combination. :) I make certain elements of a pic (like characters and 3d elements) in 3DSMax and then use Photoshop to do the final editing. PS6 is the best software package I have found and I have been a devoted user for 7 years now. The intuitive way it handles layers and editing is unmatched.

BTW, just a quick question for those who did the pics with the "green" bright outlines framing your pics... How did you get the gradient and line around those elements?

Also, I have been trying to find a way to make perfect geometric shapes and repetions when I am making interfaces but haven't found a way.
