In order to help the mods sorting out the dates, times, and poeple that are going to be involved in the highly anticipated upcoming "Staff vs Members" event, I am going to be organizing the FFA and team skirmish matches that will determine the poeple who will participate. If everything goes as planned, i think the "Staff vs Members" event wil go down Friday 12/16.
That means the members have to be good to go by thursday12/15.

It'd be nice to do a FFA match, and then those that make the top 8 play. Then they will be ineligible from the other matches, so then you go with another FFA match for the other group.

Or someone tries to make 3 set teams, but being that we're still unsure on what nights we'll be doing this - that'd be hard to do too.

Just to let you know.. the staff isn't some organized team. It's just who can play on that date. From what I'm looking at, pretty much everone on the staff side hasn't played a game with each other more than a few times and never the whole team at the same time. It's just random guys with a "-XBA" that have time to do it.
Even at this point, there is no decided team. Probably 3 staff members are ready to play on the proposed date.
The only organization taking place is just getting a date settled that can have 8 staff members availible to play.

I don't see how the staff is going to have an automatic advantage. We're not a clan that plays together. Like I just said, no one on the staff has played together more than a few times, with the exception of a 1 or 2 people and those people haven't even said a word about playing.

The "go" from Stephen was because maybe prizes will be envolved at a later date if this actually works out for future games.

We'll be lucky if we can get 8 people to play.

This was just supposed to be a fun thing to do. Now, you want to run it into the ground making teams of whoever and those people who aren't cool enough or whatever won't get a chance to play.

I'm trying to prevent you from denying anyone from being able to play.

It is too much drama. My intention was for eligibility to play in these games. Much like we have prerequisites to be eligible to win in contests.

But this is way too much drama. I'm setting this up to promote some participation with the members and the staff. I thought it was a neat idea, and there is a lot of potiential to make this something cool. It's unfortunate that I can't seem to get the point across that until I desiginate a certain day for teams versus the staff, that it's going to be first come first served games.
I mean seriously, have the members ever gone into a contest we are having and demanded the stipulations be more advantageous to them? Have the members before tried to change an event we've tried to have at all?

I really wanted this to happen. I really wanted to get this thing going to increase the fun factor of this site. But now I'm borderline just about to say just screw it because I can not convey it enough that this is the way it's going to be. It's like, you give an inch and people take a mile.

You want teams, you'll get teams when the time comes. I just want the stupid thing to work initially. It's so frusterating to work at something that hasn't been done here before and just watch people blatantly disregard the intention. wow, i didnt think it would come to this. A place where all the staff has absolutely no authority over, has taken authority over. Suddenly a game that includes the members representing themselves, and we have to play by the rules of the opposing team, including HOW to represent ourselves.

spartan, jjax, casper, zero, duke. HAlf the team is in the same clan, they play with each other everyday....how can you say none of the staff members play with each other? rec, the staff team isnt as random as your proposing.

Not to mention everyone on that list is GOOD. They're not playing just cause they can on that date, they can play on that date because they are regulars, and that makes them good.

So far there are about 20 people that signed up for tryouts. there will be an 8 man team that will play the staff. Even your way, poeple WILL BE DENIED. the only exception is, your way, is luck of the draw. If you find enough staffers to make 2-3 different teams of 8, then i will be a beleiver in the random choosing of the staff team. Until then, it looks very organized from here.


And whats the big deal if we choose among ourselves? no one here has opposed the tryouts except staff members (and ex-staff member sheeyt).

what i think should go down is staff should have like a set day when they can play or a time. and people(groups of any 8 members) just sign up for those times, and its a first come first serve basis. people with the least plays have priority. that way its not staff vs uber all the time. every one gets a turn. covenant can have his uber team. whoever can have his clique. and who ever just wants to play can team up with random people and play.

We're trying to get everyone in on this because we're giving out prizes - but it seems like it's getting to be more of a hassle to accomodate ALL members that are interested to play so we can get the game setup.

Either way, the game will NOT be this Friday, due to us not being able to get 8 guys. It is looking that the night will be Dec. 30th - as that gives us on staff a night that we can be home, time to get the front page stuff up to announce this, as well as a time that most of the members don't have school/college to attend - everyone can then get what they want.

So in my eyes, tryouts are the best bet - for every group - if you play in the first game, you're not in the others. It's no big deal. It's just frusterating to get this set up and make everyone happy.
This is something XBA has never done, I wanted to make it happen, and I'm furiously banging out the details praying that I can get this to work right, without incident.

Just to let you in on this. What I was trying to pull off all this time was this:

Four events total. Four games per event. The games are slated to take off at 8:00pm, 8:30pm, 9:00pm and 9:30pm. Four games per day, actual times are subject to adjustment.
There is going to be a feature banner / article on the main page.
Then a few days out, I intend to release a news article with the host, times and XBA roster.

Day 1 - Team Slayer first come first serve
Day 2 - Capture the Flag, first come first serve
Day 3 - Dream Team Team Slayer, Member arranged teams.
Day 4 - Dream Team Capture the Flag, Member arranged teams.

You can do your tryouts, but it's not for the first 2 events. The Dream Team thing was something I wanted to do later for the prizes. I wanted the first 2 days to herd members through and try to get new members in the door.
The last two days are the arranged teams and I said along it was going to happen. I just didn't want it on the first 2 nights.

That's the whole thing. I know someone is not going to like the arrangements I have made. It's inevitable. But this is what I think will work.
As for now, the only people on the XBA team is Casper, Duke, CourtJester and myself.

Like I said, you where going to get your teams, I just didn't want it to happen right off the bat. This is the whole thing I came up with, this is the plan we're running with.

The prizes are Stephen's idea. I told him I wanted to do this event. (again and it make it work this time) and told him my plan. He added that he could work something out for prizes and that it wouldn't be hard to do. I hope that works out.

Where Covenant and a few others messed up is it shouldn't have been called "tryouts". It should have been like this: who wants to play? Let's all hook up and play and mix and match all players on seperate but fair teams so that we can kick the shat out of the staff. For example maybe we find that 4 people are really good at sniping, seperate those four on four different teams so each team would have a good sniper. Get it? What do you say, how does that sound? :cheers:

I didnt talk one thing about Casper, cept that it was total bull**** that you said i suck, yet i went 11-1 and you went 3-7.... i didnt say one word about you in either of the games, and the only thing i said after you left was what I mentioned above... I respawned and was by myself the entire time, mostly stuck with the dam SMG and didn't have anyone on our team that played with me much, minus Dirty and Lights - so who was I supposed to get help by like with what you had?
