XBA Staff Versus Members Event 1.. (version 243433)

[Reclaimer]

After much head scratching and pondering we've figured out how we're going to this.
The plan has gone through a great many changes but at least the first event will take place as such:

XBA Staff versus the members
Event One:
December 30th, 8:00 P.M. (Central Time)
Game 1 / 8:00
Game 2 / 8:30
Game 3 / 9:00
Game 4 / 9:30

This series of events will take place on Halo 2 over Xbox Live. Four games will be played per event and the game types will be either a Team Slayer or Capture the Flag game on any large big team map. Game types and maps will be held secret until the game starts.

Teams: The staff team to consist of Reclaimer-XBA, Casper-XBA, CourtJester-XBA, JJax-XBA, Shannon-XBA, Papaskoot-XBA, Duke-XBA, and one final staff member to be determined and others on stand by to sub in, in case of emergency no show.

Member Teams: The only feasible way we discovered to get this to work because of the way Halo 2 is set up on XBL is to have pre arranged member teams of 8 players per team. .
That means the members must decide who will play in what time slot. How the members get to that conclussion is up to them. The only thing is that each team must be ready to play at the time they agree on.

The rundown:
The staff will create a party for themselves and wait.
A predesignated member team captain will host their own party before each scheduled event with enough time to get their members in and be ready. Once the scheduled team is ready, someone from that team will send a message stating that they are ready and we or they can invite the whole party over to create one party.
Once the entire party is formed, the party leader hands over the party to a staff member and we will set the game up.
After the game is over, the member party leaves and the next game will be played at the time prescribed.

Members may arrange for substitute members to play, only if the sub is a member of XBA and has some sort of post count in the forums.

Stats from each game will be posted on the main page and a thread will be started to talk about that day's events.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that you guys are trying to organize this but each XBA Member would only have to have one XBA Staff on their friends list in order to join a custom game. If they don't even have one of the staff on their friends list then they don't belong in the game anyway. I don't really care personally because I will not be playing because I don't want to drag my team down. But it should be first come first served. Otherwise, it basically turns into a clan war. If there are captains, then guess who gets to play........their buddies only. Way too political bunch of BS.

The members are still short an entire team, one team has one member too many and no team has taken a time slot.
No team captains have been established as contacts to begin the invite process.

With a few days left you guys need to get your teams squared away, make your final rosters and pick your time slots.

The staff will be represented regardless of what happens. Whether this event happens or not will be determined by the members. If there are no settled teams by the time each time slot begins, that game is forfeit.

The lessons learned...

We did it. We managed to pull the event off with minor problems.
One entire team didn't show up though, and we never had a third team.

So what did we learn from this event.
1. Regardless of how many times you mention the times, it's not enough.
2. People don't know time zones.

So, we're going to make a script on the main page for the next round.
When it's done, all you have to do is register and you're put into a team and assigned a time.

It was a lot of fun for what we managed to do. The members got to beat us, we got to pull off the event, it was a whole lot of fun.
