Have you been naughty or nice? Maybe Santa cares about that when delivering Christmas gifts but we here at TeamXbox have a present for you regardless. You can wait until Christmas night to open your gift or keep reading for what might be the very first real info on Halo 2 Director’s Cut.

OXM was the first to report about Halo 2.5 revealing that the game is planned as an Xbox 2 launch title but now you’re going to read the very first details, straight from one of our most trusted sources:

“Halo 2.5 will be an Xbox 2 launch title and is going to run in HDTV resolution with new, improved textures and graphical effects. All the stuff that people expected from Halo 2 but didn’t make the cut will be there.”

Although our source didn’t specify which HDTV resolution the game will run at, HDTV’s lower spec is enough to get excited. Can you imagine Halo 2 running at 1280x720?!!! We also wonder what was meant by “all the stuff people expected from Halo 2 but didn’t make the cut.” With this kind of top-secret info, you don’t ask; you simply listen. We cross our fingers that this will include online co-op, more multiplayer maps, and the final conclusion to the Halo 2 story.

“The technology that powers Halo 2 has been designed from day one to take advantage of the next generation hardware,” the insider added. “In Halo 2, the Xbox was pushed to its limits but now the game will reach new heights with the advanced hardware.”

But that is not the only info our insider had for us as soon after he dropped the bomb: “Now, here is the twist. Halo 2.5 will come preloaded with the optional HDD. It’ll be one of the two reasons to get the Xbox 2 that comes with a hard drive. The other reason… well, you’ll just have to wait”

Sounds crazy to us but that’s what we have been told. Interestedly, if this is true, the rumor confirms the existence of, at least, two editions of the Xbox successor. Last month, we reported about the supposed Microsoft plan to release three versions of the Xbox successor. Although never in console history has an add-on sold enough to represent a large percentage of the install base, the inclusion of Halo 2.5 would probably sell millions of hard drives and/or other peripherals that includes this special edition.

And supposedly, there’s still one other reason…what could that be?

First it was UBI with buying the new game to get a glitch fixed.
Now it's Bungie getting us to buy a whole ****ing system to play co-op and ride an ATV. Though I'm getting that Xbox regardless, that is bull****.

I feel like this is a trail baloon for what they "might" do. IMO not a system seller. I will own the XB2 just cus I own everything remotely cool. But for me H2 was lame and I am up for selling mine as it is. This was true just 3 weeks after owning it. Better bring better stuff to the table then a better graphics version of H2. This idea just sucks.

lol guess i'm the only one who likes the idea... i'm having a hard time deciding to pick up either ps3 or xbox 2... i might as well get xbox 2 with better version of halo2... i'm eventually gonna get an xbox 2 anyways... so it doesnt really matter to me , its more of an added bonus in my eyes instead of a system seller

Thats what I'm thinking about doing now... I played WoW yesterday and all I gotta say is WoW>H2. And this idea is just ****ing dumb... I'm not gonna buy a new console because Bungie couldn't fit everything in

well its not really their fault... the xbox hardware has its limits... so i still say its still a decent idea to do what they are doing

Bungie is full of it, all they did was release a game with halo 2 on the cover and made so much money, and since alot of the game was a disappointment they know that if they make it look sweet in the advertisments that people will buy the third one. Bungie didn't release the game they said they were gonna release.

Would you of rather had halo2 noverber 9th or have later in decemeber or january?
If it came later they might of incorperated online coop, fixed the glitches, more cars and weapons and maps. More time to test, i would of waited seeing as there are so many problems with halo2 now. Bungie realizes that each Halo 2 copy is screwed, and to fix it they have to release whole new copy of halo 2 improved. Bungie would probaly jump at the chance to sell 5 million people the same game again just to make a profit. I mean come on what kind of company names themselves bungie

So basically, by them working on this 2.5 version, it will delay the release of Halo 3. Stupid idea.

world of warcraft, Blizzard's Warcraft-themed mmorpg

the problem with this announcement is that it gives implicit recognition to the fact that, despite what they told us, they did NOT get to put in everything they wanted to, and things WERE cut not because they didn't fit, but because they ran out of time, or were too lazy to finish them, or were planning this stunt all along.

not a good move.

but of course, even if we had known this all along, all of us still would have bought Halo 2, so we shouldn't even try to kid ourselves.

Ahhh, the wonderful world of the double dip. No thanks. It's a nice gesture of bundling the game with a new system sorta like Mario Brothers back in the day, but only including it to try and sell an add on (hard drive) which should be part of the base system anyway is insulting.

more like planning this stunt all along to get more people on the xbox 2 or whatever it will be called ASAP and pull away gamers from the ps3 when it comes out. Well, they lost one early sell, because i highly doubt i buy an xbox within the first year of it being out. I'll only pick one up when I can save a significant amount over the launch price or get some phat bundle options. And no halo game or whatever excuse for a game they pump out will get me to get it any sooner.

I was planning on buying the Xbox 2 anyways, and I'm sure most of the members here were too, so I really don't understand while everyone is so pissed. I have got my $55 bucks worth from Halo 2 the first week I had it.

Look at this way. You pay 8 bucks to see a 2 hour movie. You pay 50/55 bucks to get Halo 2, which has provided many people hundreds of hours of entertainment already.

4 bucks an hour of entertainment for a movie.

Assuming you've logged at least a hundred hours on Halo 2, that is .50/.55 cents for an hour of entertainment.

I don't get why people are so pissed at Halo 2. Even if you think it is cheap what Bungie is doing, don't you feel Halo 2 provided adequate entertainment, especially in comparision to the majority of Xbox games? I sure do.

Why are you people getting so mad at Bungie about this article? They haven't even announced anything. So take that stick out of your rectum and chill out. It's just a rumor, and you know what happens with rumors (August 24th...).

not really, now when i think of rallisport challenge 2, i definately got my money's worth from that game. I still play that game fairly often, even those the online part is blah now with everybody moving on to other games. Halo 2, eh, it was fun for the 3 days it took me to beat the campaign, and fun for a few more week of multiplayer.

May have been a rumour to you zero :D , but not all of us are gullible. :D

you know i'm just screwing with ya zero.
