I get accused of using teh standby button when I dont have one. I think many people are looking for a scapegoat as why they lost. I have cable but I also have a wireless connection, since my wireless connection is like 100 feet away and 2 levels down, it is constantly picking up and losing the signal so I think it looks like teh standby. :(

Don't sweat it. People are just trying to place blame. Unless they actually report you and MS says something about it, I wouldn't worry about it.
According to Bungie, they can tell when someone cheats like that.

Don't worry about it, during a Team Slayer match myself, Alpha, TOTTEN, and Reclaimer were accused of lag glitching. None of us have a standby option that I know of. But when we beat them 29-50, I don't blame them for thinking we cheat. Because God forbid someone up and says "Wow you guys kicked our asses."

Yeah, I remember that. My modem doesn't have a stand by button. My router has a reset button, but it takes a pin to trip it and it's not exactly something I can do on the fly considering it's all the way across the room anyway and if it drops the connection, I'd have to go in and manually reconfigure everything.. so that means if it goes, I go with it.
It has gotten to the point that I hardly ever hear someone say.. We got our asses kicked or something along those lines. It's always some outside source that affected their game. No one ever just sucks or had a bad run, everyone is perfect and the reason why they lost if from an outside means.
I have heard someone from the other team say "These guys are good.." but that's it and that was in passing through proximity speak.
But in the end it's always.. You cheated.. or something like that.

i always try to say good game if i lose...but if they say i blow or i *****d you like i did your mom last night then i just ignore the little asses....

If i win i usually just dont say anything

Also, I'm having very bad lag issues with my Linksys wireless adapter... I have it upstairs in my room with my xbox ..the main computer is downstairs ..and then there are 2 wireless routers on computers upstairs. Anyone help me with this problem because I'm sick of lagging out of every other game in Halo and GR 2 and not even being able to play other games..

In psychology and education speak, it's called "locus of control." If you lose a game and say that you lost because you had a crappy game and the other team whipped you, that's called an internal locus of control. You are owning up to your defeat. If you lose a game and you blame it on the weak connection, rocket launcher whoring, respawning areas, controller malfunction, low pressure front or some other crap like that, it's called an external locus of control. That means that you don't take accountability for your shortcomings. I hate people that do this; it's so lame. Thankfully, I would say that after 90% of Halo mathches, the players say "good game" or something along those lines.

you don't have to have a standby button to do standby. you just unplug the ethernet cable out of the back of your modem for however long you need to tops is about 9-10 seconds, noob.

and no, i don't do it on halo 2. Learned it on the original when i had to go get *******s off the tops of the roofs.

Some connections actually do the standby once and awhile. Mostly the dsl connections im assuming. My friend routes alot pc's and other stuff on his network, and it's all on a dsl connection and im telling you it does the same type of **** as a standby button does.

I cant do it because I dont use my router because my router is teh ghey. The standby glitch has been used against me about 5 times 4 of the 5 were very minimal tho it was people in rumble pit who were losing by alot then did it to get a couple kills ahead of everyone else.
