I'm sure everyone has noticed this, but I haven't seen anyone bring it up here.
Why is their ragdoll effects in slayer games, but not team slayer games, and not big team battle games or objective games? It just seems like it's pointless to leave out. I don't see how it cuts out lag.. as nothing is different from slayer and team.. just an arrangement of players.

I didn't even notice that it wasn't in TS. I did in Slayer because me and my buddy just screw around with it killin our selves.

Actually it does create lag. The server has to tag the most important priorities to deal with, such as the bridge falling on zanzibar. ragdoll effects in organized games where alot is going on simultaneously is at the bottom of the list.
It's for the same reason that if you shoot out a glass window early in a game, you'll see it shatter and hear it break. If you do the same thing 5 minutes into the game, when lots is going on, you'll see it disappear with no sound and no shatter.
The xbox acting as the server has to deal with all of this AND allow the host player to play. That's why alot of smaller things are cut out. It has everything to do with lag.

But we can live without ragdoll effects. :) What we can't live with is lagy games...

woh i never noticed that thing with the shattering glass... i noticed the rag doll effect and just never put any thought into it though... weird

I never really thought about it, but I did notice that I hardly see the effect were if you kill someone with the pistol, their body does a back flip when it dies.. I guess it's because I play so much Big Team Battle and they cut out rag doll deaths in those games.

yeah i wish it was in team games.. cause i dont play slayer.. pointless.
I still dont understand how such a lil thing could create lag :confused:

Because in a 16 man game, that's more information that must be sent to each individual player. Each player who witnesses that death must receive the data of the animation and that just adds up to more network traffic being sent out. In a big game, I guess it's just minimal network traffic to safeguard from unnecessary lag.
Imagine that all 16 people where in the eyesight of that one kill. So each frame of the rag doll sequence gets sent from your Xbox to the host and it then gets sent back to 15 other Xboxes that must decipher viewing angles and distance and all that ****. All that while keeping up with the game in progress. It makes sense I guess. Of all the things that produce lag, the network minimizes traffic to reduce as much as possible.

i notice them when there really funny but otherwise the only other time i notice them is when i body hump.
