View Full Version : Falling Damage or NO Falling Damage
IMO, I like no fd better just because in levels such as ascension the best tactic is to jump from on top of someone and land right behind them and bash em  Then again I liked the falling damage in Halo b/c when someone fell and they were temporairly frozen to regain strength, it was fun to kill em.
EDIT- My Computer froze up when I was making teh poll and so it still posted this but there isnt a poll, just write your opinion.

I think there should be fall damage. Super soldier or not, unrealistic game or not, there should be some sort penalty for doing some things.
Why go so far with the realism to include things like weapon kick and weapon walking and varied reload times based on weapon, but not include something like fall damage.

I think there should be fall damage except it shouldnt be as harmful as it was in Halo. He is a "supertrooper" and he should be able to land great jumps but I think it should lower half his shield

I like jumping off of high things. I enjoy halo 2 more than halo 1 this is probly one of the reasons.

Cool, so can you jump out of a banshee from like 100 feet up and not get damaged?

There most definitely be fall damage. In Halo, you still could fall off somewhere and not get injured you noobs :p You had to time ur crouch so that you don't lose anything. It took some skill at least. Now anyone can just jump off everything and take no damage... In Halo, the fools that didn't crouch when they jumped down paid the price. Now, no price to be paid :(
Besides, in the book, Chief has practically indestructible bones but not indestrucitible muscles/tissue therefore there should be some fall damage.

At first I hated it, but I've grown very used to it, so I personally ended up likeing No Fall Damage, as if it were there, you would get killed using the sword. :p

well we're at making the game more realistic, why not remove all the weapons that don't exist.. oh yeah and once you die you can never play again

But wouldnt it help to balance the sword more if there was fall damage? That way if you saw a guy with a sword and you were near a ledge you could jump off and take some damage but if he tried to lock on and lunge he would die. And, if he didn't lunge but followed you by just walking off you would have time to turn around and take him down while he was stunned. Seems to me that would take some of the ultimate-weapon status away from the sword, making the game a little more balanced. Of course this is coming from someone without Live but, meh.

X you gotta get Live, immediately. The sword is NOT the most deadly weapon is just for people who like ez kills(N00bs).
I really donīt mind the fall damage cause I don't usually fall from high places, I sometimes even try to get closer to the ground when I get out of a banshee and feel stupid afterwards when they kill me, but I think itīs alright this way cuz you can concentrate in your shield's status and not have the nuisance of remembering at the last second that you have fallen to your death. And feel stupid.

Obviously you didn't crouch at the right time :p If you crouched at the right moment at the landing, then you wouldn't lose anything off ur shield. Then if you were off by a sec., then you'd lose half ur shield.

Regardless, there is still falling damage. It is avoidable, but you can also fall, and become injured, so there is falling damage.

they couldnt have FD and a sword liquid. The sword would send people flying at the ground, and dieing, while just pulling the triiger

Yes, I know there's fall damage but there's ways around it like sliding down an object or crouching which is why I prefer fall damage. I know it can't be so because of the sword as well. But it's not like anyone likes the sword :p :D

I'm starting to think that the reason why Bungie did not include fall damage is so that you could explore the maps outside their normal boundries. After taking a few trips outside Headlong, theres actually quite a few places to go and fall damage would make most of the "expeditions to nowhere" impossible to do.
Bungie had said that a lot of the maps have places to go outside the normal means and they intended for that to happen.

yes.. the sniper perch behind the attacking base is good for a quick defensive sniper, that if good enough, can afford to leave the base and snipe people as they try to get in

Obviously your an idiot  I know that works but there still is falling damage. That is just a way to get around it but it still exists n00b :p
