as u've prolly noticed by now, everytime someone shoots at u, and then somehow end up commiting suicide, ur opponent gets a point...wots ur take on this?

i personally think its rubbish that because you jumped and fell off a very conveniently placed drop that ur opponent should get a point for basically hitting u with one wild bullet from his smg

wot does everyone think?

btw sorry if this has already been posted...i didn't really find one like it

Well, the game can't really differentiate. You could have just been hit by a stray bullet and for some unknown reason fall to your death a second later. But then again, you could possibly just attempt to suicide just to make sure your opponent doesn't get a kill. I think it's a good idea Bungie made Halo 2 like this.

Look at it this way, if your opponent does get the kill off of a stray bullet then at least your score isn't deducted. And if you do manage to suicide without your opponent getting the last shot it....well then your a n00b, fight back or take it like a man.

It gets annoying at times but just suck it up and get use to it. Since it was your fault that you died, so no point in getting all mad at your mistake.

yeah, its either deduct one off of your score or add a point to theirs, i dont really see the difference

Exactly. I noticed a lot of people jumping to avoid giving up the point at the beginning, now you don't see it. And the way the points balance, it evens out anyway. If you don't like it, don't jump off.

Ok, maybe in the way your saying it, it doesn't sound fair, but how about this. What if your standing next to a pit and have only 15 shots left in your SMG, then an opponent starts clobbering you with dual SMGs, you know your going to die, but to make it so he doesn't get a point, you jump into the pit and perposly commit suicide. Is that fair too? The way bungie has it, is so that whoever kills himself gets punished for their fault, so that your not punished for THEIR fault.

This is how it was in Halo 1 also. Don't you remember? If your opponent gives you ANY damage and you die by say jumping of a high ledge (halo 1) or jumping into an infinite abyss then your opponent will score, that's just how it goes. Besides, you should much rather have a death on your record than a suicide...

If they weren't shooting at you you would have noticed that pit of doom before you feel in it so indeed they caused you to die. I get many kills like this . Its fair and cool, Ilove wtchng people freak out nxt to a pit trying to avoid your fire and then they fall. its the greatest. I think they should give medals for use of this tactic.

although i do wish that sword was limited in multiplay...

I think that would just create swordspawn-campers, but yea it is a
nuisance at times.

And about the thread, well I think everything that could be said has been told, so I guess I agree it can be annoying but it just means you have to watch your step.

It does make sense in the end.. either you loose the point for yourself, or it goes to an opponent. Plus suicides count against you in the point standings anyway so I'd rather give up that one point to someone if I do something stupid.
However, it feels like crap though to see someone get awarded for a no brainer or something absurdly lucky during your mistake.

What I really hate is when you get the suicide for something you had no control over. It's a one in a billion chance but it does happen.
For instance.. neutral bomb on waterworks /BTB. I had the bomb, I was running along the ridge of the abyss because that was where it was dropped.
Enemy comes up behind me shooting, friend running to me from the front with the sword. This was Koopa by the way.
I jumped to let Koopa charge beneath me and kill the guy.
However, my feet hit Koopa's head and my jump angle was deflected. In short, instead of jumping over him, I was re-routed in mid air when I struck his head and I went into the pit with the bomb. Bomb returns into play, I get a suicide -1 point.
That sucked ass.

At least the computer won't give you a suicide if you're the passenger of a Warthog and the driver is a jackass and mid game jumps the truck into the abyss. You just fall to your death.

Sounds to me like you had total control over it. You screwed up your jump.

Yeah, thanks for the sympathy there. :)
I know thats what it was when you boil it down, but it sure sucks when it happens.
