View Full Version : Going Prone in Halo 3?

Seeing that little display image when matchmaking is finding players all the time made me thinkg of this. You know, the trooper in the prone posistion looking through some binoculars. This made me wonder, was the prone posistion and original plan in Halo 2? Or is it a plan for the futurer possibly?

Personally I think it would ruin the game. Snipers and Battle Rifles would be rampant. Going prone would probably make you immune to mid range SMGs.. even plasma to a certain extent.

The only way I could see it working is if the time it takes to get up once laying down is a couple seconds.. to basically screw you over if someone is coming up behind you or close infront of you.

No way. It just wouldn't be Halo if we could go prone. The action would be less fast-paced, and therefore less fun. There would be way too many campers. Leave going prone in CoD.

Yes that would be true. There would be way to many campers. All they would have to do is get their armor to match their surroundings, then prone so that they could be pretty much invisible to anyone.

Exactly and Halo is one of the slower shooters compared to Unreal Tournament.

I believe that prone guy is that person who told the captain "the area is hot! permission to abort?" when mastercheif was coming back down to earth.

going prone only if you have the sniper would be ok. but i'm against it. it can only work out so well in GR

Exactly if they made prone available there would be way to many people who abused it

Would that mean that based on the next image that comes up during match making after the guy laying down peering through a range finder would be that in Halo 3 we will sit on a couch and talk to each other?

Halo 2 is too fast of a game to go prone in anyway. The time to realistically get up and down will get you killed anyway if you got overrun.

It'd only benefit snipers making them too hard to find on dark maps and up in high places. Your only shot would be a headshot to counter a prone sniper and if he's in the right position, he'd run the map until he ran out of bullets or someone snuck up the same way he did and got him. Maybe a rocket too. But that's a rocket that could be used elsewhere.

Prone.. not for Halo 2.

Going prone would only make the game more realisitic. I hope they do add a prone position to the next halo.

Going prone would ruin Halo (although Bungie has already attempted to do that) so I guess we will be seeing a prone position in Halo 3
