Morrowind was awsome with a capitol A! It devoured 3 months of my life. I havn't played fable yet, i'm waiting to borrow it or for the price to come down because i hear you can beat it in 8 (?!?!) hours... but its supposed to be good too.

If you have a 'Cube, Tales of Symphonia is a lot of fun. Interesting story, great battle dynamic, up to 4-player co-op, great design, nice graphics, lotsa weird japanese ish...
Otherwise, get Morrowind GOTY ( w/ the expansions). That game starts out slow for about the first six hours of play, but once you get the hang of it and start getting tougher, the game sucks you right in. Graphics are meh, combat is sub-par, but the depth and size of the world is astounding for a console game.

Star Wars isnt futurestic. It happened a long time ago ;).
I would go for Morrowind GotY, I think it is the best Xbox RPG yet.

i understand your skepticism towards SW:KOTOR, but it is awesome, you will love the game, it is my favourite RPG except for some SNES ones like FF2 and Chrono Trigger

If you want one that is really great i suggest Gladius from LucasArts.
The one thing that may turn you off is that it is turn based, not real time like Fable. However, Gladius is a much deeper game if you like to micromanage your stats and equipment. By the end you have a party of 20! and you can play through twice with a different story the second time through. I put in at least 120 hours on this thing going through both storylines. Another thing i liked was that the Heroes were barbarian and roman types. you can have casters, undead, bears and wolves in your party - you can even have a yeti (if you can find him). The voice acting is pretty good, with great graphics and sound. after awhile(120 hours+) the music gets a bit monotonous. Give Gladius a chance!! I guess you can tell i liked the game a bit...

...which is the best?
- Morrowind.
- Baulders Gate II
- Fable
Morrowind - Infinitely replayable open ended RPG, arguably the best RPG ever created. The Game of the Year edition has hundreds of hours of gameplay, not including the hundreds of sidequests and endless hours you can spend adventuring.
Baldurs Gate II - Not an RPG, a hack and slash dungeon crawler. Linear, very little character customization and repetitive button mashing gameplay. Takes about 8 hours to finish. If you like this type of game, try Dungeons and Dragons:Heroes. It has better graphics and gameplay.
Fable - Probably the most overly hyped let down in gaming history. Flame me if you want, but I'm sure true RPG fans would agree with me. Fable plays like a watered down version of Zelda (btw, I like Zelda). The game looks and plays like it's geared toward 12 year olds who have no idea what an RPG is It can be completed in less than 15 hours. If you really want to try it, I suggest a rental.

that is your opinion... mine is different, i enjoyed the game... the developers just got flamed for being ambitious...

I agree, Gladius is a great game! I've recently started playing it again while I'm waiting for Forza. I got LOTR Third Age for Christmas... it was pretty good.

Morrowind is fun for the first week, then you start getting disk errors like mad. Not worth the hassle, and Fable is just flat out short. You can beat it in a day if you dont do any quests, or jsut required ones. Dark Alliance makes you follow a set path, and u cant do much, plus creatures dont regenerate.
Only game Ive had that was a decent rpg game, was Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Least you can travel around, no disk errors, and enjoyable... + 2 is out now.
Im selling fable in trading center if u actually decide to go with that game....

I respect your opinion, and I'm glad you enjoyed the game.
The developers were flamed for over-hyping a game (for four years) that turned out to nothing special. Fable was marketed as the RPG that would change the genre, well, it fell far short. Maybe if the hype wasn't so intense and the games promises so badly overinflated, Fable would have faired better.

The original Morrowind was buggy, but many bugs were fixed in the Game of the Year edition. If you have trouble running the GOTY edition, the problem is most likely your Xbox, not Morrowind. I have had three Xboxs over the past few years, two of them ran Morrowind with no problems, the other crashed constantly. It depends what Xbox version (and drive) you have.

Gladius sounds nice, not intrested in KOTOR, i seriously dont see how light sabres can replace armor and swords

Gladius is a lot of fun. The game is truly, truly deep, and a bit of a strange RPG. You don't really explore the world or anything, you mostly go from town to town (as you wish) fighting in arenas and trying to defeat the major tournaments of each land you go to (a total of 4). The game is a great strategy game, and you can play it co-op or versus, too. Bet you can find it dirt cheap, now, too.

Get morrowind, but make sure it is the game of the year version, as that contains the two expansion packs, tribunal and bloodmoon. However, Fable is also very good, a little more light hearted than morrowind, but still fun to do. But if you are looking for a long lasting game, definitley go for morrowind as you can spend 100+ hours playing it at least, whereas i completed all of the fable missions in under ten hours!
Anyway, hope this helped.

I agree with both of your posts about Fable 100% I can't really add much on to it. I didn't expect it to be as short as it was, it lacked a bit for an rpg, but the concept of the game was good, but they could have done more with it.
If you want a good Xbox RPG try Morrowind, probably second best to Knights of the Old Republic I (opinion). You won't get bored of it with over 80 hours you can play it either

Hey everyone says Fable is a bad game but its not if you take the time through the quests it takes a lot longer. Ive played over 40 hours on my file and I'm still finding secrets.
Another good RPG is KOTOR :Knights of the old Republic
I have morrowing on the computer and it is alot of fun too but the only thing that will ruin the game for you is if you use cheats. Play without them and you will have lots of fun for months

I reccomend a true rpg or crpg I should say. Get yourself Planescape Torment for the pc...it is a must play rpg. Different endings, party members, choices the works and it was developed by Interplay/Black Isle Studios. It is not for the casual action rpg player. This is for the hard core or advanced player only. There are some flaws(slow), but other than that if you are a true rpg fan you would LOVE this game. It is an oldie but goodie...its what the newer ones(kotor) model themselves from. Trust me.

People are such idiots. Everyone complains Fable is short, but not if you do everything. Just like Morrowind, it could be beaten in about a day if you just continue the main quest. Everyone explains games like this, "You could rush through (game) in like a day or 2." This is how they describe games they don't really like or care for. If it is a game they love, they say it like this, "This game has MONTHS of gameplay if you do EVERY little thing that this game offers. There is so much to do and explore it's not even funny."
As you can clearly see, one statement says you could run through it in no time, whilst the other says you could play for eternity if you complete the side quests. Is this fair? No. Is it common? Yes. Are these people idiots? No, not all of them.
As for the post, you can't really compare Fable to Morrowind, as they are actually very different. I actually own 2 Morrowind games (GOTY and original) and Fable. The differences are in Morrowind, you choose the look of your character early in the game, there are no kids, it is actually quite easy to level up, you never age, you never marry, you never even own a shop/house (officially*). In Fable, the maps are pretty well designed, but you can't go anywhere besides the boundries of the current map, your character is the same guy every time**, and leveling up is also fairly easy here.
Oh wait, the title was which should you get. Well, to answer that, it depends on your budget. If you can, get both or even all three. It doesn't really matter which you get first, as they are all great. And if you wanna be technical, and get any RPG, then get Halo 2 or Need for Speed Underground 2. RPG stands for Role-Playing games, right? Don't you play the role of Master Chief/Arbiter in Halo 2? Don't you play as a Street Punk in NFSU2? So in reality, you could buy any game out there, and enjoy it as an RPG. LOL.
Subnote: How come no one mentions playing as the Arbiter in Halo 2? Everyone is excited as hell to use the Covenant model in MP, but no one cares for the dude who risks his life for humans and Covenant. How messed is that??
