How about figuring out a way to prevent cheating.. this isn't going to much, since most of the people that stand-by have gone through several gamertags

Thousands being banned. Sounds cool, however it sounds like the deal with terrorism. Take one out and 2 replace them.

Anyway, I knew it was coming. The most substantial information that I read from that was the part about the DLC and the word being screamed often in the test lab. "Trench". Sounds good to me.

umm yah they removed those cheating clans from leaderboard, now if you look hard enough, they are at level 23 already...again. I checked and people i know cheat have not been banned, in fact ppl like beamsmasher, and dyestong have not been banned. These are top cheaters in terrorsquad and flipmode. So you say bungie is doing something? They are doing nothing.

yea ..it's kinda stupid with the cursing and harrasment thing also..like a team could own another team and the losing team could be so mad that they just report them for no reason...

I 'm just not sure what degree of harassment they mean. How much is too much?

You mean the feed back system? If you already left the post carnage report, go to your friends list and click left or right until you get to the recent players list. From there you can scroll down and pick who you thought it was and press A and select Leave Feedback, then it gives you options like report cheating or harrassment.

But how you determine who exactly did it, I don't know. Unless someone would like to clarify an indicator, like if one person is pinging in the red and everyone is in the green on the other team.. I guess that's him.

Ooooh! Somebody at Bungie is ticked.

Racism? This is particularly galling, and you should know, it is frequently and highly reported. If you're one of those slack-jawed troglodytes who uses racism as his main form of discourse you probably won't even understand this sentence, but note that you should keep your vile, bilious crap sealed up. Nobody wants to hear how stupid you are.

:yikes:

And again here:

I wish I could express in words the rage that Live players feel about cheating and other abusive behavior on Halo 2. The offenders are jackasses, plain and simple. There is no defense or reasonable explanation for that kind of behavior. Quite what is going through the "minds" of these drooling halfwits escapes me, and forgive the editorializing, but I hope that every last one of them gets his fingers slammed in a car door on a cold day. MORONS.

:hail: :hail:

I seriously doubt this will do much to curb the cheaters, though. The fact Bungie has gone this route makes me think that the problems w/ the game are such that they can't be patched.

Whisper
01-15-2005, 12:17 PM
they can't be patched.. how can you patch a standby? you can't. you can put in a safeguard where if a guy goes red, he gets booted.. but then regular laggers will not be able to play.. lots of people go red then jump back.

After the game, go to your friends left and press left to see recent players. There name will be there, click on it and leave feedback.

I was banned, never used standby in my life. I have, however, been on a team with a standby user before. Could this be why?

Also, I don't use racial remarks, so that is out of the question.

i was worried i would too.. because i know a couple times, when i first started seeing it.. i capped a guys flag for him.. he standbyed.. dropped the flag in our base and i capped it (not thinking really)

now i dont even ****ing touch the flag if my team is cheating.. ever.

Yea and it's not their fault for letting such an exploitable glitch be used in a game that has been in the making for years. Good job Bungie, I didn't think you could possibly do it, but you managed.

bungie has banned inncoent ppl, why cause they "investigated deeply" into all cheating incidents, i highly doubt that, considering there site is always down, they have glitches in the stat system which is able to reset stats, i mean sooner or later the only option is to reset stats, bungie is too stupid to fix any sort of bug, they suck.

LoRd StOnEpAw
01-15-2005, 10:33 PM
The only way to fix the stand-by glitch, that I can think of at the moment, would be to have an server that isn't a player. But definitely not going to happen.
Would it be possible to have some sort of secondary host? Like when everyone goes to the blue screen, rather than wait for the host to return resume the game through another player and the former host gets kicked out of the game (in the way that if you hold stand-by too long).

The least that could be done is to stop allowing people log in as an Elite until Bungie figures out how to stop the dummy glitch. Frankly, the dummy glitch is really retarded unless perfected, which many of the higher levels have. It's also annoying since it's so common you have to send a guy to their base checking on a dummy.

Don't belittle Bungie because Halo 2 is not the first game to have h4x, glitches, etc.

game that has been in the making for years.

Mankind is flawed, we're not perfect, so neither are our creations. Glitches/exploits will still surface no matter how long Bungie worked on Halo 2.

Now everyone take a step back and try to appreciate Bungie's effort. Would you rather just have them do nothing at all? As Dark would say, "STOP WHINING!"

mordecai
01-16-2005, 07:15 PM
Hey darkTony, tell me how you would fix the glitches........ Nothing, thats what I thought.:hump:. Don't rag on Bungie for not being able to fix the two annoying glitches in their game in under two months (especially since the stand-by glitch can't be fixed from there end). When you make a game as complex has Halo2, you can't just go "oh hey, theres a glitch, lets fix it by morning" becuase what you do to fix it may cause other glitches and then you know the whiners would have a field day.

Given the dummy-glitches difficulty (I have yet to see someone do it successfully but many have tried) I bet it's fairly deeply embeded in the coding meaning it's very hard to fix without causing damamge to something else. On top of that, they just released a game which as anyone in the gaming industry will tell you, it is the time that you have worked the most hours. Give them a damn break, I think they deserved it.

The way to fix the modem glitch is that if someone loses connection from the game, they can not rejoin. Period. If they lose pings from the XBL / Bungie server, they can't come back in the game. But if they do this, it'll cause those that have crap connections to constantly get booted from games, making it much worse than it is - so it's almost a guaranteed lose lose situation.

Bert- how long did you get banned for? I saw you on this morning.

I guess you are right. Bungie should just stop making online games because people will find cheats for them.

Please be more realistic and show a little more gratitude, then I will stop being sarcastic towards you. I don't like being an ass but it seems like the only way I can get across to you about this.

It is in Bungies best interests to get on these cheaters fast. They know that should cheating become too rampant people will leave out of anger. This is Bungies problem mostly. Sure I like anyone would hate to see Halo nosedive into a cesspool of cheating/glitches and annoying ****s but I am sure someone would step up and replace them eventually.

Actually, it's more in Microsoft's best interest to get this fixed more than Bungie's. This game was supposed to be the major, no holds bar selling point of XBL - but if this will now be one of 5 games that I can think of that have been raped by cheaters, well, there shows you how vulnerable their network is, as well as their platform. Kinda reminds me of an operating system that they make too

What's the "dummy" glitch?

I was playing last night and our flag would just DISAPPEAR, only to be "captured" seconds later???!?!?! This happened TWICE in the same game. I did notice someone was "camoflauged", attacking with instant kills and I saw no sword??? I'm not 100% on the second point, but we all later discussed the flag 'disappearing' and I reported everyone on that team as 'cheating.'
We were playing in Zanzibar.

An invisble clone of someone can go up to the base and pick up the flag once he picks up the flag he gets transportted back to his original body (to capture the flag within a second)

You think with all the delays and push backs for this game they could have maybe actually done something about the cheating. And the whole matchmaking thing is BS, I am sick of playing with little kids dropping the N word, and cursing. It got old real fast. The sad thing is, I was playing RBS3BA last night and the same thing was happening. We were having so much fun until these little wiggers showed up. Luckily on rbs3 you can kick people. Bungie really slacked off on this.

I really just dont have the desire to play. I have been home sick for 3 days, and normally I would have cherished the time to play XBL, but honestly, I played once. Thats it. Its old. ANd now that every little kid has it, it sucks. Oh I miss the original days of Live. Yeh there were idiots, but there were so many hardcore gamers playing too....

If you want to play Live with mature gamers, get World Championship Poker. If I ever do play Live again that will be the game I pop in, no reason wasting time out of my life to get cheated by a bunch of prepubescent a-holes. I still love Halo 2, but I doubt I will play it much anymore.

I don't mind some swearing and racial epithets. In fact, it sometimes allows you to more quickly discern the morons, if they're saying nig*** 4 or 5 times a game you can quickly mute them instead of finding out later after you've joined their stupid Klan.

One example..."UNREAL FANTASY". This has to be one of the best examples of a scumbag.
