I try to get into Rumble Pit every once in a while because that is where solo skill is absolutely exercised to the max. But, when I play I get absolutely crushed. I played a game on Ascension and lost with only 5 kills. I just don't understand what the heck is happening I guess. I maybe die too much, somehow a guy just kills everyone crazy fast... I dunno, it just feels hopeless. Maybe I need to just keep working at it? Experience can't possibly be detrimental (except to my rank :p ).

ScorpionX (a level 24 for crying out loud) and Lord Stonepaw are damn good at Rumble Pit. You guys got any badass strategies you mind giving out? Anyone else? I want to raise my rank and need some fresh ideas to try out. Currently I am a level 13 out of practice with 37 wins. Most games I play now I get like 5th or something, maybe because I get matched with 16s or higher.

Not to mention, the best way to be a good team player is to be able to hand out a quick death to anyone when you are fighting one on one. Rumble Pit was always the go to when you needed sharpening. It probably still is, I just need to get back in.

I'm thinking sniper proficiency will give you the edge to win, but it is so hard to recover when you get killed that your whole strategy gets shot to ****.

The semester is almost over at skool so maybe I can hit some Rumble Pit soon.

being the sniper will not help you win in rumble pit, always have that perfect combo, for each level u gotta realize wherever u go there is gonna be someone with that br pp combo and u counter it. Rumble pit, pits you up agaisnt 7 other guys, you gotta be the smartest player out of the 7 other guys/gals.

-Keep reloading
-If you've just taken out 2 or 1 guy dont go back into the same room
-Learn from your deaths, sit there and think why did i die? And what could of i've done to prevent it.
-Keep your combos in tune with the level, in foundation either ppl got rocket or smg/pistol combo so unless ur on a turrent or have a br, ur gonna get ****ed.

I dont know if this helps, jus givin out sugestions, im a 16 in rumble pit( 105 games played, 52 won, i dont have live so it wont be goin up anymore)

Key things to Rumble Pit:
1) Grenades! I cannot stress Grenades enough, particularly Frags. Two frags on an unscathed guy will kill and fortunately that is how many frags you spawn with. Grenades is how you further your life to get a 2+ kill per death ratio. You will learn to love grenades, they are your best friend.

2) You must be versatile(sp?). You gotta be flexible, know how to be a threat with any gun. I love to snipe and it's usually the first thing I go for in any game, but I still have problems letting my gun go after I die. I keep going back for some reason like a moth to light and I end up feeding kills. In Rumble Pit, you won't be able to grab your weapon of choice. Also, most of the time you will run into opponents before you can grab a combo so you gotta know how to kill someone with a better weapon/combo with an SMG + GRENADES (Grenades is 90% of how you do it).

3) Don't be afraid to steal kills. People will do it to you so you gotta do it back. See two guys battling it out? Then throw a frag in the middle of the two. Easy double kill.

4) Be able to watch ur six. Watching your back and keeping a keen eye on ur radar. Gotta be able to tell if the enemy is on your level, on top, or underneath. Gotta be able to decipher the radar to match ur position and where they likely are on the map, like when you're on Ivory Tower you'll be able to know if they are coming on the lift behind you.

5) Almost everything you do, you'll be on the run. It is unlikely you will hold down one area the whole game. It can happen in a couple of games, but it's uncommon. You'll die after a good 5-10 kills. So for you snipers, learn how to snipe on the run.

6) Try (note the try) not to get heated up at other players. In almost every other, if not every, game you play, you will run into some little bastard who thinks he's the best at the game. He'll call you a n00b the whole game. Use the snipe, you'll hear a "OMG, I could OWN you if you drop that n00b gun". Just reply with a simple "Come take it away from me and find out". Keep your cool and try not to totally lose it b/c you'll get sloppy. I know it's hard. There'll be games where you just go off. Then again for you non-trash talkers you can just mute them.

That's all I can think of at the moment, might edit some more in if I think of some more generic things. Later, when I feel energized, I'll post some strategies I have on the gametypes/maps of Rumble.

Edit:
7) Like teckno said, Reload after every kill, try to crouch and hide in a corner until ur done reloading.

8) Dual-wield. My stamp of approval ;) goes on the SMG-SMG, SMG-Plasma Pistol, SMG-Plasma Rifle, SMG-Pistol. Especially the SMG-Plasma Rifle or SMG-Pistol. Those two combos can compete with each other. You could use the SMG-Plasma Rifle or SMG-Pistol and rack up the majority of your kills on one life. They're ez to find and damn good.

9) Learn when to smack a guy after his shield is down that he'd get laid out.

10) Learn how to quickly drop your dual-wielded gun to throw a grenade

yeah, im like a level 14, i progressed alot just by being smart and owning guys while there fighting themselves, another thing, get to the good weapons first, because u no everyone will grab them, so why not grab them before they kill you with them, on acesnion, use the battle rifle, there are so many easy kills with that on that level, just basically control the weapons and youll end up pretty good..

The only tactic I can reccomend is to find cover as soon as you kill someone and reload while finding cover.... I need to get back into Rumble Pit, I have a great record, I just dont play often enough.

Throw lots of grenades. If you die holding grenades, you have failed. Even just throw them randomly. Throw them at yourself for all I care, just throw grenades.

And when the game starts run for the powerful weapons cause thats where all the noobs go first and don't take the weapon use it as bait they'll fall for it and come right to you!

all weapons are powerful. The main idea is this, basically till you get passed level 20 in anything, your playing either dumbass's or cheaters or intermediate players. So basically all you have to do is....

Foundation - Stick with smg/pistol combo, even if some guy has rocket you will manage to get more kills then him at one time, if rocket is present go for it. The sword, if your gunna camp get the sword and chill in one area. Battle rifle, not safe considering there may be people behind you, and people are always going around those damn numbered walls.

Beaver Creek - Br/Pp Combo, use it. Now in teleporter entrance which alot of people camp, what i suggest is this if your gunna camp get a either a smg/smg or smg/pr or smg/pp and that should protect you unless a rocket comes even in which he is probaly reloading. Sniper, if your good with sniper you should use, but if your "so so" with I'd either just pick it up then drop it somewhere else so you lose the possibility of being sniped. Chill above the bases if you really want to camp, those hoes outside the teleports will not survive, throw gernades, plasma shots, steal kills, a good spot for gettin kills.

Lockout - Because of the amount of people on this level a lot of people like to camp with the sword, and i guess it does well. This level is somewhat complex, in the way that you get into any room in 2 openings or more. For this map you gotta be aggressive at the start of the game, and take the early lead, cause as soon as you spawn people will be shooting. Throwing gernades in spots where u just saw people fighting is also crucial, which can result in double kills. Running around with the sword here is kinda of stupid considering that there is probaly someone sniping or behind you. If you think you have mastered it go ahead, it does have good results. Any sort of long range combo or gun in this level aint the best option unless you have the skill to use it. Because easily someone 85% is gonna spawn right behind you cause of how small the level is. Just stick with your most confident combo here, also if you dont know where guns are you are screwed and have to wait for luck to kick in, because most of the time all the guns you want are already gone. So you'll have to fine others.

Colossus - My favorite level...For this level out of the others i wouldn't really take my advice. Mainly cause i own at this level every time i play it. All i do is chill with br and pp and get kills. Does me fine here, if i can't get pp i just br. The sniper, again if you are good use that ****, if not you wont fair as well, this being agaisnt skilled players.

Ascension - I don't really like this level yet, i seem to play it so much. Do not stay in one place here, this map is alittle to big for camping, agaisnt kn00bs and n00bs yah sure it would work but agaisnt skilled players they will remeber where you are camping and annouce to the rest of the players. This level comes down if you can kill better than your oppenets. Snipe if you your a damn good sniper. Br/pp kinda of a waste to get cause if your out in the open your most likely gonna get shot, and it is a hassle to get the plasma pistol. If you want time the overshield, might help in firefights i doubt it agaisnt good players. Shotgun - If your not laggin i suggest this, get a sniper even if your not good with it and a shotgun, and chill at little base and snipe, dont stay in the scope for too long, if you can't get the guy in aim **** it check your radar, you may think no one is behind you but they are, i guarentee that this combo will work perfectly if you use it right.

Midship - Battle rifle, carbine, sword, plasma pistol, shotgun(if no lag is present for you) These guns will help alot, yah sure pr/pr is good, but it is hillarious how someone can dump two charges into a guy and he doesn't die at mid range, when you know you are hitting him. Battle rifle/sword combo, for this to work right please do not run around in firefights weilding the sword, cause your gunna die and lose your ****. Stay at a safe distance with br.

Key tips
-If your a good sniper "snipe".
-Most likely when in a firefight, once the firstshot is fired you will know who is gunna die between you both. So throw a "good" placed gernade, when i say "good" i mean so that he either in a spot that he want's my weapon or throw it so that when he leaves ur corpse that he dies.
-If your gunna talk smack back it up.

Probably the biggest thing to consider is your kills versus the clocks. You have to maximize your time. Rumble Pit isn't a game to lie in wait. You need to be rushing around. If you're running somewhere and you haven't seen someone in a few seconds, you're going the wrong way.
You always need to be where the action is, getting your kills in. People aren't your enemies, it's the clock that's your enemy. Listen for explosions and gunfire. You need to be there picking off the weak and wounded.
Sniping helps a little, but not a lot. You need to be on the ground running.
You need grenades coming out of your ass too. Group kills are good to you.
Grenades will be everywhere. Just like that guy said, keep tossing them. Even if you are running to a group that's fighting, throw grenades in first, then blaze into them.
Take a rocket launcher but hold it for groups of people. Don't waste a rocket on one guy.
Essentially, that's what I figured out while playing Rumble Pit. It's not so much your opponents being good, it's about beating the clock. Kills per time being alive.
