I was just playing Perfect Dark and I really think that...

...that the Laptop gun was so damn cool that Halo 2 would have benefited from a similar type weapon. I mean, I don't think it should be a laptop, but it should just be a portable sentry gun that you can carry to a location and set-up. It should be pretty weak and not amazingly accurate. It would be simply to cover an area or provide suppression fire.

I think it would introduce great tactics to the game. It would allow for a multitude of unique strategies. Just imagine, your buddy steals the flag and you are trying to escort him back across Coagulation to your base. You are outnumbered greatly so you bust out your sentry gun and set it up on the route you are taking to get back to you base. Perhaps you could set it up right next to their teleporter so as they come pouring through they get sprayed at by the sentry gun. You could also use it for defence of your base (CTF, Assault).

As I mentioned above, it should have several handicaps to balance out its awesome mobile sentry ability:

Handicaps
1) Weak (perhaps like the SMG or a tiny bit weaker)
2) Inaccurate
3) Limited rounds in its magazine (Say 180 rounds at the SMG's rate of fire)
4) Can be shot at and destroyed fairly easily
5) Max of two per map
6) Would show up on radar and/or HUD

Abilities
1) Mobile (Can be picked up and moved around as you wish)
2) Can be mounted just about anywhere on the maps geometry (perhaps even on vehicles! Lol.)
3) Can be reloaded (can be picked up again once depleted)
4) Medium range sentry gun

What do you fellas think?

I honestly think Perfect Dark was extremely overrated. BECAUSE... it was to far ahead of it's time for it's own good. IF they were to remake it now, I think it would benefit greatly. It's one of the few games I think should be remade.

No, im saying the game ran awful. Slowdown, after framerate drop, and slowdown. Some guns were to hard to use (that gun that sees through walls) because the framerate would get annhilated. The game was too hard to play with the drop in framerate. I'm just saying if they remade it for better technology (i.e. current systems), the game would be much better.

(this is all multiplayer. :p I didn't pay much attention to the single-player story).

oh. I didn't see any problems with the framate. it was on n64 so the graphics weren't that good. but ya I played that game all the time on single player and multiplayer. that is the ****ing best game ever. if you haven't played that game with your friends on single player and multiplayer you don't know what your missing. oh man. I think I'm gonna pull out my n64 again. hint-team maians enemy-dark sims lock you and the rest of the team up in a area 52 room and just wait for them and order your entire team to hold in the room

I loved it in PD, but it wouldn't fit in Halo IMO. Would rather see proxy's but only 1 at a time. Or sticky with a timer :)

How about just a mobile turret. That would be cool, kinda. Like in single player when the grunts bring out a turret and then set it up. It would be a very tactical gun. Its downside would be you have to have the element of surprise. If you were in a firefight and tried to set it up you would easily be beaten down. It would be interesting and gay just like the sword and it would fit in with Halo 2's universe.

Agreed, except once you get used to Halo 2, it is easy to defend against the sword. I think it would be cool to have a stationary gun, except it most likely would be abused on defense.

Yeh the turret would act just like a normal turret and would take the same amount of time to set up and pick up as it takes to get in and out of a warthogs turret or stationary turrets. If they allow the sword with infinite ammo, then a mobile turret is equal. Plus people do abuse weapons. Its gonna happen no matter what.

i know this has nothing to do with the sentinery run issue, but i need to get something off my chest, the hostile takeover of the games development company 'Rare'. Ever since microsoft has taken them over the quality of games comming out on the 'RARE' name has been very low, and now classic games that rare put out back in the days 'GOLDEN-EYE' are being high-jacked by corparate big wigs E.A (electronic arts), and what did we get in return 'golden-eye rogue agent'. the worst first person shooter i have ever played. the graphics are so appalling they make N64 graphics look ground-braking today, people we have to take a stand against these big companies that are constantly flooding us with crap, unoriginal games that arnt even challenging e.g Driver 3, matrix online, spiderman.

And another complaint I have is games based on movies, when will someone develop a game that's based on a movie where the story-line is completely different from the movie, that way the the suspense of playing the game is not lost in the game.

People, my fellow gamers be it :PC gamers, xbox gamers, game cube, ps2 lets us take a stand against the 'MAN' and suck it to him 'WE WANT GAMES THAT R ORIGINAL & CHALLENGING 2 DA MIND'
