MVP 2005, no question. Besides, this is MVP's last game for a while now.

I've read some bad things about ESPN. I picked up MVP and I love it. Graphics are really sweet, but what I like is the gameplay, it's smooth, realistic and fun. Players can get injured by getting hit by the wall, baserunners will also try avoid trying to get hit by the ball, baserunners will slide and try to knock down the 2nd baseman so he can't throw it to first, it's really good. Plus you have Owner mode which they added in. I'd say MVP, I read reviews for each game and MVP was the choice for me and I don't regret it.
Get ESPN so I could bust ya ass online..
I got ESPN
I don't know what bad things people are reading, but I love it.
The only issue ive seen is the wild pitch bug, every 3rd game or so against hte comp (like in a franchise mode) the computer will throw 2 or 3 wild pitches in a game, randomly. If youve got a runner on base, he gets to advance. but thats the only negative ive seen, and its really not that much of an issue
sound great, graphics, great, its fun, its easy to pick up, the pitching is intuitive and actually a new pitching system, etc etc
and i think ESPN is 20 bucks to 30 for MVP
I haven't played em both though so I can't give you a direct comparison

I have both and am a huge baseball fan. MVP is the most realistic game. The gameplay is smooth and the graphics are good aswell. ESPN to me appears to be a work in progress. The Pitchers dont have the actual picthes as their real life counter part. I have yet to see a pticher on ESPN with more then 4 pitches to choose from. The movement of the players appears to be stiff and has no flow. During gameplay there are time when you dont even see your fielder to make a catch. The turbo button ruins the game with to many infield hits the and makes the double play nearly impossible to turn. The worst part is the slamzone. When a ball is thrown and its off target a big red circle lets the batter know where the ball is going. When he settles on it both players have to press a repeatedly then the batter swings. To me this has nothing to do with baseball. I understand bad pitches get ripped but this doesnt take into account velocity. ie. I can show you that i am throwing a ball to a spot in the strike zone but you still should have to time your swing to get results. In MVP my bad pitches get hit hard and doesnt need that arcade nonsense. I loved ESPN 2k4 and was diappointed when they ruined that game this year.
Pitchers in ESPN can have more or less than 4 pitches
I dunno about the rest of the league but i'm a pirates fan and I can tell you Kip Wells has 5 pitches (the black button provides the extra pitch) and AJ houston has 3
And I get double plays and stuff if its lined hard enough to a fielder
And on the slam zone: If the batter is a crappy batter (like benito "45 year old man" santiago) and the batter gets the slame zone, its tougher to pump up the slam bar. And then when you hit it, it won't make it out of the park, you'll just end up with a pop fly. So the slam zone isn't going to let just anybody crush it out of the park. And you can always just turn it off if you don't like it
I don't get all teh negative ESPN sentiment, the game hasn't disappointed me at all.
Oh and on the passed balls bug... adjusting the AI error slider gets rid of it, according to the gamespot forum for the game, just FYI

Mussina, Johnson, and Shcilling just to name a few have 5 pitches to choose from on MVP which are the ones they use in real life. ON eSPN they all have 4. As far as the slam zone all the runs ive given up were due to Homeruns hit on slam zone while playing online. There are people that have turbo controlers that abuse that feature and the baseruning feature. In real baseball you get double plays even if the ball isnt hit that hard thats why i say it not a simulation of real baseball.

MPV by far is better than ESPN. ESPN ws the only option of online baseball we had last year, and while the game was alright, MVP was still the better baseball game. This year proves to be the same except now MVP is online. MVP has a lot better gameplay, it doesnt have that idiotic slam zone, you can control the speed and accuracy of your throws. The pitcher/batter interface hs to be one of the best yet. You can use AAA,AA,A teams online along with your pro team. You can use custom rosters as well, which we are using for a league I am in. It allows for trading, free agent signings, create-a-player, etc. Without having to use that pathetic league system ESPN offers you.
If you want a good baseball game, they both have their nice points, but by far the better overall game is MVP. Without a question.
