i can't remember a game giving me such mixed emotions. there are some beautiful things in this game...how it plays and looks. but there are some TERRIBLE things too. i realize it was the first attempt at a baseball game by the developer (forget the name), but i wonder how some of this stuff made it by testing.
a ball will be hit to first or third, and the focus is given to ss or second. by the time you switch, it's into the outfield.
or, a ball will be hit where an infielder might make a play on it, but you have to go right away...and you find after you make the dive attempt that you just made your outfielder dive and the ball rolls by him. i played my roommate the other day and had a 1 hitter with 2 outs in the ninth. then this happened and he went for an inside the park homerun. it tied the game and i lost in the 10th. freaking game!
there are major glitches in the lineup/depth chart area which generally show up after a trade. the computer will tell you there is a problem with your lineup. you can fix everything and head out to the game and it will tell you the same thing. the only option is to let the computer "fix" the problem for you, and then hope that when you go rearrange the lineups that the same little issue doesn't happen.
i could go on, but really, i like this game for the most part. i really hope they get this stuff fixed for next year. it could be a great game!
i'm playing through a season, and started as the pirates, just for the hell of it. but my fantasy baseball mind couldn't get along without adding some of the minor league prospects i have to my 2k5 team. and then i had to add my friend to the team too, where he pitches better than in real life. so...my team looks something like this...
1b nick johnson (although i just traded for him. darryle ward has 29 hrs behind him now)
