i try to make an account wit mi free code, but the following happens: "could not cnnect to xbox live. do u want to trouble shoot ur network connection?". i press yes
and then : "cables connected, ip not confirmmed, dns not resolved, xbox live not found". what do i dooooooo

Unplug your modem, and plug it back in. It needs to capture the MAC address of your xbox.

BTW, it hasn't been "tampered with" has it?

Try a direct connect from a fresh powerdown of the modem. Exclude everything you can first, then start adding things back into the equation once you get it working. :cheers:

By tampered with, I mean Modded. A modded Xbox will not connect to Xbox Live.

when you say connecting the xbox to the laptop, do you mean that your setup looks something like this?

Modem--->Router----->Laptop---->Xbox

Thats similar to the setup i have, and i'm thinking you might not have enabled internet connection sharing. this site should be able to help out

okay, well if your Xbox is hooked up to the laptop and the laptop is hooked up to the internet (wirelessly or otherwise), you've got to do the internet connection sharing thing.
