View Full Version : XBox hardware modifications?

The XBox uses fairly standard PC hardware
right? I understand most of the components
will probably be sodered to some 'mainboard' (video, audio, network, etc), but there are bound to be some things that can be 'upgraded'.

Like, the hard drive . . . or the memory maybe. While most of the XBox will
probably be immutable, I foresee a hardcore
group of XBox junkies shopping for 60G
drives and voiding their Microsoft
warrenties.

Hey, would it be possible to have a forum
under the Hardware section dedicated to such tinkering? Maybe called the XBox Underground?

Hmmm...now there's a good idea. http://www.xboxaddict.com/ubb/wink.gif It's kinda like the Divo (I think that's what there called, the boxs that record t.v. shows to a drive) devices. A friend of mine purchased one recently..and the drive is upgradable in it. So, it's hard to say!

There are two major manufacturers of those things in USA. The one is called Tivo and the other is Replay TV (I think).

no, you can't go shopping for a new harddrive unless you have a mod chip and as such, this thread will be closed.
