Forgive me if this has already been asked, but. If I have Live now will I have to purchase a new live account with the 360? More importantly will I loose my old gamertag? :cuss:

**Note** with the Silver Subscription you can't play online.
Silver is for Content Download, Friends list, and Text Messages.

Wrong on two points, as far as I know; silver comes with both systems, and it allows online play on the weekends.

No it doesn't ..... They said they'll have promotional weekends. But NOT every weekend. Hopefully I can find that again. But you are right that Silver is for both packages.
The scans of those brouchers or whatever they are shows that both packages comes with Xbox Live Silver and with a 30-day Xbox Gold trial.

Also I'm pretty sure it's the same live, like you can message people cross platform because it's the same online system. So it's most likely going to cost the exact same.

EDIT: Here is some info on Xbox website (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox360/xbox360console.htm)

With its built-in Ethernet port and a free level of the online service, Xbox 360 instantly connects you to Xbox Live. Every Xbox 360 owner is a Silver subscriber—just plug the Ethernet cable into your existing broadband connection and join a global community of more than two million members. Set up a Gamer Profile, visit the Xbox Live Marketplace, even send voice messages—and that's just the beginning. Upgrade to Xbox Live Gold service and experience multiplayer games and tournaments, intelligent matchmaking, voice communication via the Xbox 360 Headset, and much more

Also here is the xbox liveOnline Fact Sheet (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox360/onlinespecs.htm)
It actually doesn't say anything about free weekends ever. But I remember all the romurs about free weekends with Silver. Then it was just promtional free weekends, and now I can't find info on it.

EB games has XBL subscription card for the 360 listed at $49.99 so it looks like the price will stay the same.

Should be able to. I don't think there has been anything offically saying that one person with the xbox360 can play halo2 online with people on xbox. BUT since you can send messages to people on xbox if you are xbox360 because it's on the same online live service, I'm assuming you'll be able to play games also.

I can't say 100% yes because no one in MS has come out and said those exact words.

But from what I have read/heard I'm going to lean towards yes.
