the other day i was adding up my cost of my xbox and the games i bought..
i dont even buy that many games but the end result was shocking.
6 games at 50 bucks at the time= $300
Halo Xbox=$170
1 controller+ nascar racing wheel=$100
Xbox Live Starter Kit=$50
Xbox 360=$400
360 wireless contr. + Call of Duty=$110
Total Cost of being an Xbox Gamer...$1130 before taxes and all bought at Ebgames.
Knowing you have wasted too much money and time on xbox...Priceless

even tho it costs its still a lot better than being a sony gamer...Good luck Microsoft and Xbox 360 this time around...only 42 days left

That's the price you pay for joy and happiness.

Considering that price will only buy you a mediocre gaming computer with no games...you're not doing so bad.

Alternatively, consider the hours of entertainment you've gotten from your Xbox, divide it by around 2, then multiply it by the price of a movie ticket or rental.

I've spent so much money on games and systems, but I enjoy it and that's what matters :)

Which is why you stop as soon as you find out whats happening! Especially lately, since everything is about commercialization, pretty graphics, and 13-year old prepubescent boys talking **** online.

With the exception of Oblivion, I have not seen one X360 game that has any substance beyond graphics and "neat features".

Anyone play Shadow of the Colossus yet?

I've spent over 3,000 on my XBox and games. I would definitely not mind having that money in my hands right now.

True, but with luck things might turn around again. If you look at the most profitable Development houses out there, now that the carbon-copy FPS money tree has started to run dry (or just been saturated with overcompetition), it's the better studios like Bioware, Bethesda, and Creative Assembly that are raising eyebrows...and while most of them have sold out to the bigwigs in some fashion or other, we do seem to be seeing slightly longer leashes as damage control for some of the world's buggiest AAA titles ever released.

The problem is, Oblivion happens to be the only title of this nature that happened to start the right number of years ago to be finishing right now. The others have projects on the way...they just need time..a lot of it.

I've been trying to tell my friends the same thing. Game dev takes years now. Oblivion was develped for the PC. There was not concept of the 360 at the time. It was still up in the air how the Xbox would perform. Luckily, the development for the PC and the XBox2 go very well together. The timing is just perfect.

The great games that we will see in 6 months will be games that were started for the original XBox and are now being updated for the XBox2. Just like most of the launch games which just got bigger textures.

Two years from now they will be just learning how to program games with multiple threads, and that is when the system will come into its own. Until then, get ready for the same gaming we are used to, with better graphics.

Of course, Valve and other great PC companies will port their next big things to the XBox2, and they will be the killer apps for the system. I think the XBox2 and the PC will feed off of each other now. Especially since Microsoft is pimping Vista as a gaming platform, and XNA as a gaming standard for PC's. By March, the XBox2 and a decent ($1,500) PC will be nearly identical as far as CPU and GPU are concerned. And the XBox2 will get swamped with PC ports (and vice versa).

Game On!

But what else are you gong to spend it on? Fast food? Over priced gas? Smokes? Stay home, play your games, and don't get cancer... My 87 cents.

Dont you mean 8.3 cents?

I have things like gas, college, food, porn, and clothes to buy...if I could afford a 360, I probably would, just for Oblivion, but thats niether here nor there.

Its only money. You can't take it with you. The only important thing in life is that you enjoy it. Trust me...
