Finally we get a video glimpse of the first Xbox 360 commercial. There were reports across the internet that this was actually ran as a preview in some movie theatres, whilst others say it ran on their t.v. cause their t.v is and I quote "the leet". Either way, someone was smart enough to upload it to the internet for your viewing pleasure

It was a good commercial but I didn't liek the fact it was for the xbox360 when it had nothing to relate to it.

Wow. That was a sad excuse for a commercial. Oh yea. A bunch of black people skipping rope really has a lot to do with the Xbox 360. How is the consumer even suppose to know that the ad is even advertising a game console?! If Microsoft is trying to appeal to a broader audience, why did they make their commercial so unrecognizable?
Microsoft officially sucks at marketing new products.

Incorrect, our hockey and beer commercials are hilarious. You've probably never seen any.
Also, we're not afraid to run a commercial if it might offend someone.

hahaha, it was awesome. Why do they need to show off new features? its not an infomercial. It fits all the criteria of a good commercial. It engages the audience, shrouds them in mystery, entertains them, then announces the product. I dont see where the "suck" comes in. I guess since this is a more hardcore audience, you would want to hear about the triple core processor or wireless capabilities.
But as i recall, Sony's PLaystation 9 commercials didn't say anything about the ps2, and Microsoft xbox 1 commercials was a talking bubble.
If anything, this is the commercial that makes the most sense.
Either way, i liked the commercial. It was cool, and will probably gain the same effect on most poeple that it had on me.
Person 1: "dude, have you seen that xbox commercial"
Person 2: "The jump roping one? dude! that was sick!"
Person 3: "what 360 commercial"

Paris hilton was in a raunchy "Carls Jr" commercial. One so raunchy that some moms called it "advertising with soft-core pornography". It was still advertising. The ad garnered nation wide attention, and tons of free publicity, inadvertantly skyrocketing paris's already huge fame-for-no-reason campaign.
This is less raunchy, and well, it is "cool". If you don't think it was cool, thats your opinion, but you saw the commercial, and it stands out of other commercials. Even if it doesn't to you, the "hardcore audience", the "mainstream audiences" will have a much more positive reaction towards it.
Need i bring up playstation 9 again?

woah I didn't even notice Ben Wallace when I saw this commerical at the theater last week!
They played this during the previews/commercials when I saw Saw2 last weekend.
Pretty cool, can I always apperciate the jump rope tricks and stuff. I know I could never do that stuff.

It's catchy, and I don't mind it. But I expected a little more from a campaign as large as the 360. Then again, the Best Buy commercials that ran here when they first opened make this one look expensive :rolleyes:
European commercials are hands down the best, followed by Canadian beer commercials.

I guess sure. I don't really have a problem with the commercial so much as I do with advertising in general as of late. I cancelled my cable 6 months ago and have been happier ever since. I guess it's hard to go back. Yes I do "get it" it's really not tough, the whole "community building, we're all different but all welcome and united through our leisure with different levels of skill and seriousness but there's a place for all of us here in the circular jump rope". Yeah. It's genius. I'm blown away. Pass the vodka.

Then toss in the 360 logo at the end for good measure. While it wont entice them to buy one, it will implant a seed so that they remember and think about the 360...which along with other ads, word of mouth etc, could lead to buying it.

Actually, there's a lot of people who don't visit xbox fansites, pay attention to E3, or anything else related to the video game community. Many of these people couldn't tell you who makes the PS2 or the Xbox, what the difference is, and certainly don't understand why there's another Xbox coming or what the difference is.
Now most of that crowd is more or less a lost cause, but they are the grandmothers and sometimes parents who buy consoles for their children/grandchildren, and will pick out the console based on the name they've heard the most (or what the child asked for in some cases).

i just saw the commercial today and it was slightly different ...they didnt do the bike trick and no ben wallace...it was also shorter. :confused:

I just saw the commercial, too...just now, so I immediately jumped on-line to post in this thread. I must have seen the same version of the commercial that you did...it was a lot shorter than the stream at the thread heading.
