Do you guys think that you can plug in any EXTERNAL HDD you get at a store, and plug it into the USB slots on the 360?

That would be sooo cool!

Discuss.

Hmm...that's really a good question since the Xbox 360 can recognize mass storage device (mp3 players, camera, etc) but i'm sure that it won't recognize a External HD. Just because Microsoft already planned that the Xbox 360 to have a protection against using other HD than the original 20 GB. Maybe we can just ''update'' the software included.........

Hmm. I haven't heard anything about it, but I doubt it. Microsoft wouldn't let their profits slip away like that by letting people buy their own third party external drives. I think the over-priced 20gb hard drives are all we can use for now.

I'm with ya bro!

Isn't there a way to get an internal HDD, and put it into an external box, with USB input?

Because, in Canada, The 20 GB HDD is 130 Dollars! For 110 dollars, I can get a 250 GB Hdd... It has to be able to read it, b/c like Shadow said, MP3 players wil be recognized...

Let's keep our finger's crossed! :p

Oh, BTW, you you get a HUGE HDD for your 360?

Yep, it will happen eventually... it's called modding.

External HDD would rock. Something as big as 200G with TiVo abilities and maybe some ISOs, Roms and such going on.

It's strange though, the first xbox has 8-10gbs of space and no one has filled it up, why offer 20 and 40gb hdd's? Gimmick? Well whatever it is, I'm sticking with 20Gb.

Who are you talking about when you say no one?

You are mistaken, my friend. Much so.

And the 360 will be a Media Center Extension device for me. My A/V demands suck up HD space like a hooker sucks golf balls through 10 feet of garden hose. Easily.

Dude.. I filled mine up in a day. Music and movies EASILY take up 8 GB's. Also on the Xbox HDD, the partitions are really small (like 3 GB's)

I've never heard anyone filling up their hard drive. Also, I would think it would take longer than a day to fill it up, it takes a while to rip a cd to the xbox hard drive.

Just because you don't understand the possibilities, and the technology, doesn't mean we are all noobs.

The XBox was networkable. You could fill up the HD in less than half an hour.

There's nothing wrong with speaking for yourself, but when you use global references, you are destined to look like a blow-hard.

"I've never heard of anyone..." Ha. How many people do you know?

Not trying to be aggressive, just letting you know that you don't know much about what the XBox HD can be used for.
