Digital Extremes has sent word of their first post-E3 developer update of their upcoming Xbox exclusive title, Unreal Championship. The game will utilize the next-gen Unreal engine and will be one of the flagship online titles for the Xbox this spring. Here's the udpate:

-The rendering code for Unreal has been given quite the overhaul by Epic, so we have been merging with that code, plus integrating our own code to get even more juice out of the Xbox.

-Also most of our models are nearing completion, so that both our animators James Edwards and Steve Jones have the rest of the development time to tweak and improve the animations. And they already looked so good... yummy!

-Our programmer Ader has been working on the controller, to make sure that the player will have fun playing this game. During E3 people could already move around with ease (which was a bit hampered by the fact that the bots were on some high level gibbage mode), but we continue to fine tune until we are satisfied with it. It has to be perfect.

-Level creation is running at a steady pace. The level designers are making some spectacular locations for the players to fight in! I know that you have heard that one before but I really mean it! :)

Finally, Digital Extremes revealed a bit of the script of Unreal Championship. Check it out:

"When you stand upon the arena floor, know that the eyes of the universe are upon you. Your pain will cry out over a billion terminals across the Empire, and your victory will stir millions to their feet. You will die a thousand deaths, and live a thousand lives, for that is the Emperor's will."
