I really hope they know what they're talking about with the Xbox only outputting 720p native. I certainly haven't found any press releases or other official info that reaffirms this, though it has been my suspicion for some time.

I'm not sure he's doign anyone a favour by telling people to use their TVs for scaling though. Some do a decent job of it, but a lot of TVs have terrible scalers in them, in which case it would be better to let the 360 do the work.

Not a bad little guide for casual gamers though.

Actually, that is the way they're formally marketing it. It's the stores and places that have stuck the word premium all over it. If you look at the box, it's "Xbox 360" and "Xbox 360 Core". The word premium is never mentioned anywhere on their site.

I think its all games are supposed to be atleast 720 native when running in High def but will upconvert to 1080i if your tv only supports 1080i, or you can set it to upconvert all games to 1080i in the settings. I know on my kameo it states on the back of the box its running at 720p native. Though im not really sure on all the high def stuff. Just thought i would give my input. All i know is it gonna look nice on my 50in. DLP i got in HD 5.1 Bose surround sound. :)

he didn't really seem to stoked on anything...at all. Basically it was just "yeah...it's a decent system...and...you know...I'll play it and stuff, but...whatever, nothin' great." He was just so damn unenthused by everything. He also didn't explain how you decide which controller is 1st....and one thing (I feel like t3h n3wb asking this) I want to know is...does it still support 4 players or what?

He's right you know:

720p refers to "720 progressive", a form of high definition digital television that comprises 720 vertical pixels by 1,280 horizontal pixels. Scanning is done by painting a line of pixels before the next one is painted. Because of the sequential scanning, 720p is better able to handle motion and is actually superior to 1080i for that reason.

1080i refers to the number of interlaced pixel scan lines appearing on a screen - 1,080. An interlaced screen has 1,080 vertical pixels by 1,920 horizontal pixels. Interlaced scanning "paints" the picture on the screen by first filling in all the odd-numbered scan lines then filling in all the even-numbered scan lines. Done very quickly, the eye only sees one picture on the television.
