I just finished playing Halo 1 with 3 other dudes...

Oh man, I haven't played Halo CE for almost 8 months and I can't believe how much fun I had! Even just 2 v 2 CTF or Team Slayer is so much damn fun that I can't even describe.

I hope all of you guys are sitting down, but, after playing Halo CE, I cannot believe that Halo 2 is actually a true sequel. I know I have been saying this for a long time now and I'm not trying to bash Halo 2 to the ground because I've already done enough of that...but, the sheer skill that Halo CE requires in comparison is ridiculously higher.

Yes, the pistol is the weapon of choice...and the range on it is kick ass for a little gun, but, that's what makes the game so damn fun. Flipping vehicles (Warthogs mainly - I say this because I never play with tanks or ghost ships) is so key in strategy with a well-placed grenade...shooting a driver out of the seat with your pistol or Sniper is so damn satisfying...and a well-aimed rocket from halfway across Blood Gulch and taking out an unweary driver of a Warthog is extremely gratifying.

I shot a rocket from the rocket spawn point on Blood Gulch and nailed the Warthog more than halfway to the blue base preventing the opposing team from scoring...and you know what my opponent had to say? "HOLY SH**!!! NICE SHOT!!!" No, he didn't get mad because the rocket didn't home in on him...it was well targeted.

Also, headshots with the sniper are so gratifying...they are much more difficult to pull off in Halo CE and when hit by a Sniper, the typical feeling is, "Damn! Nice shot!"...not followed by a big *sigh* and the words urking "damn auto aim" or "damn magnet bullets".

I haven't had this much fun with Halo for ...well....8 months!

I will likely never play Halo 2 again... I like the game, but, by comparison, it doesn't hold a candle to Halo CE.

I know I ll never be a Halo stud but I knew CE was superior after playing the Halo 2 campaign for about 15 min...It seems as if Halo 2 was rushed to market without proper QC testing...
Dont wanna rehash old threads and debates but....

1)vehicle physics...this is a test for everyone....drive the warthog on sidewinder in H1 and then drive the hog on zanzibar in H2...
2)H2 melee attack is unfair with that reed richards like lunge...
3)fall damage in H1 made you work extra hard to sneak up behind someone
4)spawn campers in H2 can easily kill you as youre cussin that frickin SMG as a starting weapon
5)Map design in H1 is superior to H2 maps...waterworks, foundation, headlong are OK but they will NEVER equal blood gulch, sidewinder, hangemhigh, tombstone...You can play for yourself and see how much love the designers put into H1...seems as if bungie was out to get paid and attract more fans with H2...
6)The sword in H2 totally messes up the game...Ive seen guys get the sword and proceed to get 23 kills because they know when to pull right trigger when reticule turns red...you call that skill?
Do people still play H1 on XBC? because XBL is what makes H2 fun....
congrats on rediscovering the truth Max...and keeping alive the glory of H1, which is still the best game on Xbox...NFL2k5(another classic) rules too...

I used to play XBC all the time before Halo 2 came out...it was border-line an obsession. I even paid for a kick ass internet connection that cost me over $100 just so I can provide a good host. Many people said that it was the least lag they have ever seen...

Now I have my regular internet connection; though, it is almost as fast. One problem is, though, you live in Florida as stated in your profile and I live in Seattle, WA! That's about as far away as we can possibly get! :D

Anyway, I know, I should just fire up XBC again...recruit some brethren and play...but right now I'm diggin' the 360...I just couldn't believe how much fun Halo CE was....damn good times....

I was lucky enough to have a LAN a couple days ago with 6 and eventually 8. When we only had 6, we had to LAN H2 pre-update because we didn't have enough copies of CE. Wow, I forgot how bad pre-update was. Later, we were able to get a couple more people and we finally got some more copies of Halo CE.

Wow, the game was always fun to me, but I too had forgoten how much better it was. Even though some of the gametypes we played weren't very good, they were still more entertaining that most gametypes in Halo 2. Everything about it feels better. So many different strategies can be used. Wow, I just like it so much more.

Yeah, I love Halo 2, but it's worn thin. I haven't played in a couple of weeks. I guess it had a 1 year lifespn for me. Conversely, I think about the 3 years of obsessive LANs lugging around TV's and all the rest so we could get 4 boxes linked to play Halo CE. We went through that for 3 years for that game and loved every second of it. I can't be bothered to plug a cable into my Xbox for H2 anymore. Crap now I'm depressed.

I agree with Soundscape...I may have to start doing that on a regular basis again...damn good times...always!

Yeah, I had a mini system link with 3 other friends a few weeks ago. We only played about 3 or 4 games (all we had time for) but man it was a blast. I need to bring the legion back together for our 12-16 player 4 box frenzy again.

Oh yeah, Max, if you ever use the word "yummy" in a post again I'm coming over, kicking your ass and stealing your projector. It's for your own good. :p

I believe there's a mod somewere to let you play some of those maps on the xbox, since we really can't talk about that stuff here I'll just leave it at that, I have never bothered trying it myself as I prefer the smaller to medium size maps and there are plenty of those in halo 1.

i think you should get a clue. we have played halo 2 and quite a bit of it...and it's lame in too many ways to mention. this has been discussed to death in older threads.
