so pretty much here's the story. so i get an iPod for christmas, i've got all my music on it, and i hook it up to my 360. my 360 recoignizes it, but when i tell it to play my music, it doesn't play ****, even though it doies recognize the artists, albums, songs, everything;...the whole nine yards. anybody got any idea what i'm doing wrong...cause this has got me f*cking baffled.

Well, that's cause you bought a Shuffle. Heck, if you bought an IPOD you are screwed. They were some of the buggiest hardware of this year. Unless you have the new Ipod Video, you are just about screwed.

I am not just bashing on Apple, I had an Ipod Mini, and a 40G Ipod, BOTH crashed the same way.

Maybe you needed to take care of them better ;)

Actually, despite being a pop-culture hit, the IPod line in general stands as one of the less reliable devices out there, well below most of the competing brands :)

Failure rates on micro-drives are high in general though. You get less memory, but flash based MP3 players stand a much better chance of lasting through the years. Personally, I like the ones that take SD cards, but they seem to have grown to be a bit of a niche item.

It's because your songs are in .aac format. If you look next to them they should have a little red symbol showing that it's an unrecognised format.
