I read the Full Article (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/710/710038p1.html) but I'll quote some snipets of what I thought were the main points of the article.

If E3 is all about setting up strong expectations, Microsoft set ours straight by giving us smart, gorgeous games that show off next-generation ideas and graphics.

First, Gears of War...we engaged in eight-player multi-player matches...Easily the most fun I had at the show playing a game.

Microsoft is hitting hardcore gamers right in the teeth (in a good way) with the stuff they want: Action games, RPGs, first-person shooters and racing games

Microsoft continues to lead the console-based online arena with Xbox Live. To wit, Sony's online strategies look similar but vague, though it's clearly using Microsoft's subscription based service and all of its components, from Live Marketplace to Achievements, as examples...Expect Microsoft to continually pound its chest with Live innovations.

Microsoft is making clean efforts to widen the range of game types on Xbox 360 and its working.

Microsoft's future looks tuned, shiny, and raring to go for 2006 for Xbox 360...Going into E3, I wouldn't have said that, but Microsoft really came through with tangible, substantial stuff on X360. The company is leading with great first-party software, it's made great partnerships with all of the major third-party publishers, including a substantial effort to get Japanese publishers onboard, and it's forging ahead with innovations in Xbox Live on Xbox 360, and Live Anywhere on PCs and mobile devices.

Sony's and Nintendo's launches this fall will grab much of the press spotlight, Microsoft future fall lineup will be impossible to ignore. Whether more people will buy a PS3, Wii, or Xbox 360, well, it's still too early to tell. If the case were just to be made by software and online options alone, Microsoft will be the one to beat, not Sony. Microsoft's chances at challenging Sony for marketshare dominance have been realized. By heading out early, taking the lead in several areas specifically online, and investing heavily in first party games while corralling solid third-party support, Microsoft has shown true leadership, intelligence and real guts.

I thought a particurally telling statement in the Wii article was Nintendo just outright saying that it doesn't think graphics are important as long as gameplay is great.

Do they think that the 360 and PS3 games won't be fun to play? I think Nintendo's bid here is going to fall flat
